what program do you use for digital art?

I like to keep it as simple as possible. one layer for grounding the character in the environment ( Multiply layer around the same color as the sky ) and one for lighting ( hard or soft light )

Ill use the gradient tool to give the multiply layer a very slight hue variation. Then I just like to play around and have fun trying to replicate lighting from references. And I think adding a little bit of lighter tones to the multiply layer where light has reflected off surfaces adds extra dimension.

Personally I just slap blobs of color until I like the way it looks, usually i'll do the flat colors and shading underneath the lineart and then I make a layer above it all and start eyedropping colors and adding more overtop the lineart

There's lots of great resources on YouTube that can explain way better than I can. My advice then would be to just have fun with different layer types and see what they do. Its a lot of fun I promise!

I love giving my shadows a little colour. Light is a variety of colours and shadows tend to be the opposite on the colour wheel

So a yellow light would have blue shadows for example. I tend to gravitate towards grey ish purples and blues for my shadows
