Basically, the peak island is an island cursed by scout master myers 40 years ago. Any plane that crashes over has its residents stuck in a perpetual "loop". A random assortment of every planes residents "Crashes" onto the island and has to ascend it like you normally do in peak.

If you die, escape the island, get left behind, whatever, it doesn't matter as you will find yourself back at your original terminal with provided residency. However, you are unable to leave. When you eventually go to sleep at the terminal, you will find yourself crashed back on the island. (Fiend found a cavoite in this function, if you hold someone in the helicopter as you escape, you go to their terminal instead of yours)

Everyday, the island is consumed by fog while 1 or multiple scout parties ascend the peak, this fog terraforms the islands shape overtime and finished after a day. This changes pretty much everything, resets all of the stuff on it, and allows for any new items from new planes to be added to the loot on the island. (This is why energy drinks started appearing on the island when fiend arrived)

Age progresses in this loop, so people like nomad have probably been around the longest. And uh...yeah thats about it for an explanation on how things work.
