Also if you're really looking for a challenge join random LFGs on ascent 7 and try to get everyone to the Peak. I've found that to be one of the most difficult tasks unless there's a few legends in the lobby

Mostly the one where if you run out of stamina in a crack it will just keep building up momentum until you fling out at high speed. Other than that I think the game is great the way it is for now. There's a few ways you can get around needing the stove for that achievement. The main one, and this is a legitimate method intended by the developers, you can turn your sfx volume alllll the way down then the mandrake won't put you to sleep.

Additionally, if you don't want to do that, you can use rope storage to pick up the mandrake without activating it

Hey I just completed ascent 2 and i don't know how big of a jump in difficulty it will be to asc3 (with the weight) but I'm looking at the modifications for each ascent and realistically asc 4 and 5 (flare and cold night) dont seem to be much more difficult than asc3. I only think the next real jump with difficulty will be on asc6 (higher stamina depletion) is it like that? just curious

the cold can't kill you unless you have more than ~20% other effects

a single lantern could last all the way to caldera and past the caldera there's no cold

but you'd need to manage it well

I think some helpful information is that the cold you get during night adds up to 100% of your stamina bar. This means that as long as you aren't really injured or hungry you can drop all of your items and take a small sleep and still survive the night. I'd recommend only using the lantern for up to 20% of cold damage per biome if possible.

my tip is to wait for a maximum amount of cold and then turn on a campfire

You can use the heat from the sun to help with that but that would require some good awareness and timing. I think most average players can't pull that off
