noob question, how do I cook things in caldera? Like do I have to hold items towards hot ground/lava and hold right click, or something else?

The items get cooked when you hold or throw/drop them on a hot surface

you can sit items down on parts of the ground that are close to the lava. if the ground is tinted in orange, that means it's hot and you can cook an item there

Died in Mesa for my first look due to a dynamite that was clipped into a luggage (not one of the ones that spawns in it). I had just thrown another dynamite that was nearby, opened the luggage immediately after, then sploded. Best I can say is if you're making a lobby make it DM only for the link, cheaters/griefers are much less likely to join those because if you get proof of them griefing they can get banned from the server

It's an unfortunately common issue. Often times if they close out of the game then rejoin it should fix for them. I'd recommend lighting the nearest campfire before they rejoin though otherwise they might get sent back to the start of whatever biome you're in

tornadoes and the sun are the two primary dangers you want to watch out for. look for shaded areas where you can prevent yourself from taking heat damage and watch where the tornadoes are headed so you can evade them

i disagree. at least in roots you have more things to work with that help you advance to the top faster (mushrooms, shroomberries, etc). tropics oftentimes has very weird spawn logic with the routes not being very clear until you run into a deadend and then you're backtracking

i'd probably make tropics a 3rd area at the very least and maybe mesa 2nd

Roots are significantly harder for me. I feel like the increased foliage obscures the possible routes. The spore clouds too, as you can't see through them. Then the increased hazard with all the creepy crawlies in there. And the winds are so strong

Yeah but you can easily get through roots by climbing on top of the treetops

i've only seen zombies maybe a max of two times. it might be because im not standing near spore clouds for them to ever have a chance to spawn. wind is countered by just grabbing a nearby object or holding sprint if you have the stamina

Depends tbh, if roots has a good tree route day then its much easier than tropics

With trees u can skip that whole biome in 3-4 minutes

that definitely isnt the only hazard in tropics though. the rain definitely isnt as bad as wind, but you still have to think about the CLUSTERS of spore shrooms that like to plant themselves on cliffsides where people will generally want to climb. ive had more success with avoiding most of the hazards in roots and being able to get to the top vs tropics where the "correct" route is oftentimes misleading
