I honesty need Tropics gameplay tips. No matter how hard I try, I can never get past it. I end up running outta food, gear or it rains when I'm just about to get to the top of a climb. I'm frustrated af.

If it starts to rain and you know you won’t make it, be sure to use your last bits of energy to climb down and avoid fall damage
For food I’d always grab 2-3 coconuts at the start and cook them. They are good food and give an energy bonus, but be sure to only use them if your out of food or you need an energy boost

That’s what I normally do and it saved my run multiple times

Tried out a challenge I saw on YouTube called “A Blind, a Mute & a Deaf play Peak.”
Blind = blindfold / screen off
Mute = mic muted, only pings + emotes
Deaf = volume off
I went Deaf, my mate took Mute, and my friend Lola went full Blind with a blindfold from the start until the very top of the mountain. She didn’t see a single thing the whole way up. I was giving her instructions, while the Mute was scouting with pings, sticking close on climbs and giving her boosts when needed.
We actually managed to pull it off on the third try. Not gonna lie, it was chaotic but also one of the best Peak experiences I’ve had. If you’ve got 3 people, 100% worth trying.

Clusters, toxic ones specifically, I think are supposed to be a cluster of amanitas or some related shroom as the indicator (ring on stalk) is a trait of those

Dunno about buttons, and there really isn't anything toxic that resembles chanterelles so bugles should all be edible too but there's magic potions and ghosts so realism isn't SUPER followed

amanita phalloides is the closest I found, the problem is by the time you start seeing the ring on it the cap has flattened out and no longer matches the cluster shape that well

as of rn, the game just cycles through 15 pregenerated levels, which one being determined by the server's response (it just simply adds 1 every day, today's level index is 83), conveniently all the levels are listed in order but they can be reordered if need be (but would require a game update since its hardcoded)

so youd need to setup the levels themselves (like get the biomes for Level_0 for example), then note down the list of levels (from the MapBaker class i think? so both of those can just be done from in-game), and get level index, next island timer, and version check from api

that would probably be the least amount of required work & maintainability (until the next update)

The Mesa's biome mechanics don't add any meaningful challenge to the climb and the climb itself isn't even a challenge. Alpine has challenging terrain and a hazard that compliments it very well

Mesa would be a cool biome for a totally different game. Alpine is a great biome for a climbing game

I have the inverse problem tbh. Mesa's hazards are a total joke. All incredibly easy to avoid and they don't add any interesting situations to the game. It's always a very simple "if/when x do y" problem. Alpine isn't like that. Much more dynamic.
