That definitely checks out, in my multiplayer runs I will say it is ESPECIALLY silly when grappling other people, considering they don't really have any idea of exactly how they're getting grappled, I would say my personal middleground would be keeping the physics the same when using it as a grappling hook but making the physics less chaotic when grappling friends, which honestly does even make more sense realistically, sense it's called a rescue claw and not a grappling claw, implying you shouldn't use it as a grappling hook.
