It's just a check to make sure achievements are working. The "requirement" is reaching a zone below the airport. Just glitch out and walk into the void. Fall for a while and you'll get the achievement

if you go to your steam profile, on the right-hand side there is a green button that says "join game." right click and select the option to copy
you do need to be showing as online via steam in order to do this, and you also need to be in a lobby
oh, also, you need to enable the option for friends to join the lobby in the peak menu. i think that covers it

they changed how the fog walls are positioned so it doesn't work as well, but the cannon is functionally the same

Not really. Just that people were complaining too much about the idea of them removing it, so they had to keep it in the game
