From what I can gather, it gives them legal grounds to access and use any data/files transmitted from the user machine while the game is running. To me as a game dev, they added this so nobody could be like, "WHAAAT You accessed my data without asking while I was playing a beta build??"

So basically everytime you beat the game you unlock a ascent. A ascent is modifers eg: more hunger. You can change the ascent by changing what it says on the plane ticket with the arrows like tenderfoot, peak, ascent 1, ascent 2 and so on

reasonable lol, I'd say honestly if it bothered you that much, to keep in mind that the clause is only active on traffic from your machine while the Peak application is open, so you could always accept the EULA update, run ONLY the peak application while you're playing and nothing else, then fully close out the process with task manager before doing anything else on your machine

ofc, if smth like a jargon-filled paragraph to a EULA being added around the drop of a beta is enough to keep you from playing a game, you probably shouldn't be playing any licensed games with EULAs in general :P
