Hello, been using a G-portal server or a month and having fun on zomboid with a friend.

Server crashed yesterday, and now whenever I try to load into the server I just get a persistant black screen of death that never finishing loading. Sometimes it will say 'loading mods' and hang there, even though neither server nor client have any mods installed. Everything unsubscribed, just playing vanilla.

I don't remember what was happening when the crash occured, but it seems to have corrupted something. Other servers / local client works fine. I have verified file integrity, tried windowed mode, reinstalled the game, and everything else I can think of. Since the game does not complete loading, I cannot enter any commands or do anything.

#

Also, I have not manually saved a backup of the server files and just found out today that g-portal doesn't automatically save a backup of anything. Not sure if the corruption is locally or server, though. So, yeah.

Can you share the logs.zip file from the server?

Is this what you're looking for? It contains errors, so hopefully it is. I didn't see any logs.zip @light pendant

That log is from 3 days ago so I'm not sure it will be helpful.

If your game is acting normally locally then I'd suggest it's a server issue. You can try to do a complete reinstall through g-portal, I don't know them specifically so you would have to seek support from them about how to do that.

3 days ago is when the problem occurred, but alright I’ll contact gportal

My apologies, I don't see anything in there that would explain the issue though I'm afraid

Update: also, I was able to make a new account on the server and connect to it with no problem, therefore I think I've narrowed down the corrupted file to the players.db file @light pendant

I also found what looks like an automated server backup from the day before the crash--if all else fails, is it possible to roll back from that backup? I'm not sure how to execute that.
