I tried making a dedicated server, and while it kind of worked for a while, players started having bugs on Unstable build multiplayer where they had to make new characters every time I closed the server and re-opened, so we removed the only mod I had running (the moozic radio and playable music mod) and just started playing on the built-in hosting through Steam since we all have the steam version, on vanilla.

But here's the big thing: my partner that I live with couldn't join, and I think it's because the IPv6 that he'd be trying to connect to my steam server with is the same as the server itself. I tried inviting directly through Steam, allowing his SteamID in the whitelist, but no dice. We had our mutual friend with a lesser computer who lives alone host, which works okay, but I'd like to know if anyone else has encountered this with a roommate or partner
I know how to port forward and have run servers for other games fine in the past, but I wouldn't say I'm an expert lol

We're all playing with official Steam versions, connected successfully in the dedicated server version, and my partner and I are on the same Wifi connection.

I was recommended to try hosting and having my partner join with the server browser to my external IP. I will try that tonight or tomorrow and report.
