#Having an issue with being unable to add any mod to a server

#

I have tested 3 different Ini configs this morning and neither one of them is accepting a new mod.

The Mod ID stays but in the Workshop ID line, its all blank.

#

trying to add a mod to my existing save, the mod id stays, but it refuses to add the workshop ID

#

this is a brand new ini config for a local host

#

workshop line is completely blank

#

for some reason the game is just refusing to download the actual mods

#

even if you put the workshop ID in there, itll just get deleted on startup of world

#

There was a guy DMing me last night at like 12am trying to mod his locally hosted server and none of his mods would work

#

so this must of started happening sometime last night, i see a few other reports of it

#

<@&756556556488933526>

#

is it a steam issue then?

#

hm, no it cant be a steam issue, the mods are subscribed in E:\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\108600 here just fine

#

it just wont actually put them onto a server

#

@rugged shale you said youre really experienced in Hosting with mods, you see this issue at all?

#

i know you helped me last night with another issue

#

Also just figured out that you can't add OR remove any mod from a server atm. the workshop id list WONT update no matter what, regardless if you remove the mod id or add a mod id

#

something is major fucked

rugged shale
#

Just to make sure, cause you said “server”. Are you playing by clicking “Host” or are playing on a server hosted by a company like Indifferent Broccoli or G-Portal?

lean quiver
#

Like i was trying to delete realistic car physics, add a few car mods on the dedicated host.

But it will not remove the workshop id for physics or add the new ID's

#

Both local host ini files refuse to add new mods as well

#

Or remove any

#

Again this is ONLY for the workshop id line. It save the mod id's in the file no problem

#

This was happening to another guy last night too

rugged shale
#

Okay, so couple things you MUST do with Indifferent Broccoli -I use them for my games-

1- Mod names MUST have a slash in front of them for B42.

So put a \ in front of EVERY mod name. This is a hard requirement.

So your mods should look like:

\VFExpansionRedux42;\VFExpansion3Redux42; etc. etc.

2- You must always reset. After adding the names and ID’s make 100% sure to click “save configuration and restart server”.

lean quiver
#

I create the mod order in a local host ini to organize it and then copy the lines over

#

The game itself uses ;

#

Ive added and removed mods over the last week and never had this issue

rugged shale
#

The \ is a hard requirement for Indifferent broccoli.

It says this on your server dashboard as well.

You must do this first

lean quiver
#

Why wont it add or remove mods in local host though

#

Its not just brocolis side

rugged shale
#

Add the \ first. Then we move on AFTER you do that.

Indifferent cannot read mod names for download without the \

lean quiver
#

Thats odd as hell, it's been downloading them just fine with ; the whole last week. Let me try it

rugged shale
#

The \ Specifies “build 42 mod” without it it tries to snag B41 versions

lean quiver
#

Ah jank

rugged shale
#

Not odd. It’s a hard requirement and your dashboard is VERY specific about this being required.

Trust.

#

Also make sure you are editing the .ini file from your Indifferent Broccoli dashboard directly.

Don’t use file manager.

lean quiver
lean quiver
#

instead of ;

rugged shale
#

Use both. So \mod1;\mod2;\mod3

lean quiver
# rugged shale Use both. So \mod1;\mod2;\mod3

\damnlib;\tsarslib;\ChuckleberryFinnAlertSystem;\errorMagnifier;\NeatUI_Framework;\RotatorsLib;\Neat_Building;Neat_Crafting;\BrandenburgEkronIrvingtonSpawnLocations;\MoreSpawnsEnabled;\rSemiTruck;\70roadRunner;\59meteor;\88chevyS10;\93mustangSSP;\73fordFalcon;\SkillRecoveryJournal;\GydeTraitMags;\twistdarkermap;\CleanHotBar;\HereGoesTheSun;\ReloadAllMagazines;\STA_PryOpen;\StorageWorks;\CACustomMetalWeight;\CACustomWoodWeight;\SwapIt;\TwisTonFireFasterActions;\MedievalZ;\SimpleOverhaulTraitsAndOccupations;\VehicleRepairOverhaul;\VehicleSalvageOverhaulB42;\StandardizedVehicleUpgrades3Core;\StandardizedVehicleUpgrades3V;\VFExpansionReduxb42;\VFExpansion2Reduxb42;\VFExpansion3Reduxb42;\CDDA_Zombie;\StarvingZombiesWIP;\WanderingZombiesWIP;\BetterCarPhysics;\apocalipsebrvehicledamagempfix;\Optimal

rugged shale
#

Yup! I have several of those mods myself

lean quiver
#

i was asking about the workshop ID section in the second part

rugged shale
#

Workshop ID no slash. Just as normal:

12345678;12344678;12345678; etc.

lean quiver
#

well that didnt work

#

it didnt keep the new workshop ID's still

rugged shale
#

Uh…. Reset takes longer than 1 minute

lean quiver
#

nope, servers up

#

2909035179 this is the ID for better car physics which is in the mod list

#

but its not in the ID's

#

which is a mod ive tried to add since last night

#

NO mod id stays

rugged shale
#

When you click “save configuration and restart” the dashboard should pop up saying “your server is restarting”, the green online light turns purple, and it takes 2-10 minutes to go back to green

lean quiver
#

since last night

lean quiver
#

I 100% garuntee this issue is not on my end

#

this is some weird game shit

#

ive modded this way for weeks

#

no issue adding mods

rugged shale
lean quiver
rugged shale
#

Screenshot if able.

lean quiver
#

WorkshopItems=3423660713;35670 it does not save any changes in this section

rugged shale
#

I understand your issue. Just making sure I do all the proper troubleshooting steps first.

Need to confirm it is saving other changes you make in the .ini

lean quiver
#

Workshop ID: 2909035179
Mod ID: BetterCarPhysics

#

Workshop ID: 3490370700
Mod ID: 73fordFalcon
Mod ID: 73fordFalconPS

#

Workshop ID: 3001592312
Mod ID: 93mustangSSP

rugged shale
#

Slow down. i got you

lean quiver
#

those Mod ID's are all missing

#

even though the workshop ID is up there

#

and those are mods im trying to add since last night

#

there was a guy last night at the same time i was DMing trying to help him with mods

#

he was wondering why no mods were working even though i watched him add them properly in the local host menu

#

so he was having the same issue im having for some reason

rugged shale
#

Stand by a minute. I’m logging into Indifferent Broccoli myself

#

When did your game update to version 42.16? do you recall?

lean quiver
#

rented it after the patch

#

was using survival servers but it was horrible and my save broke with the update so i switched

#

let me check the error log i guess

rugged shale
#

I am waiting for a server reset on my end. I just added Better Car Physics to the dashboard to see if I get your same issue.

Stand by plz

lean quiver
#

i can try adding another random mod to see if its still jank

lean quiver
#

my massive confusion is why it wont even work in local host too though

rugged shale
lean quiver
#

what in the shit

#

did you subscribe to it in the mods pannel or added it straight into the ini

rugged shale
#

Okay so it's NOT a fetching issue between Indifferent broccoli and steam.

Odds are HIGH it's the zomboid folder in your PC under users.

#

OR some kinds of internet issue where it's timing out.

#

So next step

lean quiver
#

let me try restarting all my shit then

rugged shale
#

don't drop a nuke yet

lean quiver
#

i was just gonna turn my pc off and on first lol

#

but even if it was something on my end, it wouldnt matter since brocolis own server is the one fetching mods

#

its not fetching mods form my pc is it?

rugged shale
#

navigate to users / your profile name/ You'll see a folder called "zomboid". That's all the game settings and other stuff.

If you are paranoid, make a BACKUP and paste it on your desktop.

But DELETE this folder. Adding/removing mods sometimes breaks it and the only solution is delete it.

Then verifty integrity of your game and launch it so it makes a brand new, fresh copy of the folder and it's contents

lean quiver
#

k backing it up now

rugged shale
#

Why the indifferent broccoli dashboard is not saving a mod ID number is very strange.

NOT saving the edits you make is usually from a hiccup in internet, or bad lag, or something.

lean quiver
#

verifiying files now

#

ill restart my pc after

#

90% done

rugged shale
#

After you make changes, you are hitting THIS button to restart?

want to make sure you are not hitting the "restart" buttton.

lean quiver
#

been using that the whole time

#

ok its putting the new file in now

#

ok new folder was made

#

let me restart my pc quick

#

aight @rugged shale now what

#

do i try to make the changes again

rugged shale
#

okay try to add better car physics again

#

I added and removed it on mine just fine.

lean quiver
#

hm ok, let me log back in and see

#

i guess

rugged shale
#

So if no work on your end. something is up with your connection to indifferent broccoli

lean quiver
#

still doesnt explain the local host issue too

rugged shale
#

which is annoying. Are you in North America?

lean quiver
#

yea servers in East coast, im in Iowa

rugged shale
#

wondering if you have something set to read only, preventing changes

#

diagnosing jank can be annoying

lean quiver
#

my internets fine

rugged shale
#

while stuff is resetting, also type in your help bar "controlled folder access" an open that.

That will take you to your windows security page.

Click on bottom left on "Protection History"

You'll see a screen like this

lean quiver
rugged shale
#

Don't screenshare, cause you don't want to post your file stuff.

BUT click on aany folders on the right and see what it says.

If it says something like this for any zomboid folder? It's windows being stupid.

This is my PC where windows blocked Marvel Rivals

lean quiver
#

mine aint blockin shit haha

#

put the mod id's in my server ini again, restarting it

rugged shale
#

okay. so Windows + Game + all that is fine.

Can you add OTHER mods to your server?

#

yeah if it does not take this time then something is up with the Dashboard / game itself.

lean quiver
#

i can try putting another random one in

rugged shale
#

yeah wait to see if car physics takes hold, then try a random mod like Common Sense Reborn or something

lean quiver
#

there NO WAY restarting my pc fixed it

#

bruh

rugged shale
#

I keep a .txt file of all my server settings (both the .ini and the sandbox.lua) as backups for emergencies if I nuke the server / wipe / and reinstall the game

lean quiver
#

didnt even cross my mind cause its through fucking chrome

#

all 3 car mods added and physics

#

just fine

#

ima crash out

lean quiver
#

makes 0 sense lol

#

it was either deleting the zomboid file

rugged shale
#

odds are it was the Zomboid folder.

known issue. it gets corrupted

#

There are some files that break from mods. Super annoying, but when people launch the game and get stuck on a black screen, infinite load, etc. etc. that is the main fix.

Delete the zomboid folder. re-install or verify game.

it just works

lean quiver
#

this game is so beyond buggy haha

#

but thanks for all the help man

rugged shale
#

Connection to server host can also be janky. I always log out of my dashboard just to make sure Chrome and the website reset fully

lean quiver
#

ive modded like dozens upon dozens of games, this one is by far the most pain n the ass

rugged shale
#

yeah kudo's! happy modding. Don't blow up your server with janky mods!

#

skryim is THE WORST lol

lean quiver
rugged shale
#

I use quite a few too.

#

JaneHelldiver on steam if you need help there. I'm in comment sections of quite a few mods being weird or dropping tips

#

Common Sense Reborn.

Current remake of Common Sense, since the mod author has been MIA for so long
