#The things i build is gone

Can you share your logs.zip file found in %UserProfile%\Zomboid?
Also can you share all “hs_err_pid” files found in your main game folder “Steam\steamapps\common\ProjectZomboid”?
okay let me see
this is for the hsr
this is for the logs.zip
btw right after i posted this, it crashes another time, making some part of the house i based in revert back to their original state when i started playing (no furniture i placed, items in cupboards gone, etc)
Can you disable your mods and see if you can replicate the issue in a new save?
like on a new game mode? i can try
but uhh i'm not sure how to replicate the issue. the game crashes and the things gone the second i reload back in. how do i recreate this?
If you play for a while and the game doesn't crash then it is likely a mod issue. You can try enabling the mods you have one by one or in batches to see if the crashes start happening again.
hmm okay, i will try just that
i'll come back when i got the results
disable mods through the ingame right?
Yeah
okay then
well i played for a while just now and it crashes again... i will be logging back in soon but even then i don't know what to look for since its a new game and i haven't built anything yet
not even through my first day, its sandbox super easy mode setting btw
Can you try doing a full reinstall?
First, uninstall the game, then go to "Steam\steamapps\common\ProjectZomboid" and make sure there are no leftover files or folders there.
After that, go to “%UserProfile%\Zomboid” and delete everything there except the “Saves” folder.
Then just install the game again and see if that helps.
just logged in again to see whats going on, when i drive my car and zoomed out it crashes again
okay let me seee
nope. crashes again
i have been playing also in the same new save as the beginning of this troubleshooting
Can you provide your logs.zip file again now that we have carried out these steps?
this?
It appears your C drive is almost full, I would suggest this may be the cause as the game requires a certain amount of drive space both for saving the world as you play and if you run out of memory. If you could clear some space on your drive it may fix your issue.
hmmm okay
but errr
i got the game on my d drive
okay after clearing the space i notice it no longer crashes even after 1 hour of playing
though i must ask, how do i prevent things like this to happen again in the future?
also, how do i backup my save? i am planning to back up all my saves everytime i close the game
Keeping a bit of free space on your drives will help a lot, most apps will run better. You can make a copy of the "%UserProfile%\Zomboid\Saves" folder to back your saves up.
okay then i'll keep that in mind
here's the thing that i wonder though. i put my games on harddisk instead of the ssd drive. if i need to put some space on my drives as in the ssd where the game apparently have some files they put in there, how much space are we talking about exactly?
Given you have 8gb of RAM I would recommend about 12gb
12gb of space ? space right?
like memory?
yes, i would leave 12gb of space free on your SSD
oh god okay. i have like about 3 left on my ssd
alright then, thanks guys
but one more thing to finish. what do i do with the old save now? what if it happens again?
does save gets corrupted?
Test the save to see if it still works, you may have just lost some progress but it's unlikely you'll be able to recover stuff that has already been lost
okay then. also what do you mean by unlikely? from the moment things are gone i actually expected none were recoverable.
you mean there's a way?
if it failed to save to the file then no, you're right it's probably lost forever. If the save file is corrupted and wont launch then you you may be able to recover it but it is not guaranteed to work.
ooh hmm okay then. so save file is corrupted if it can't launch, correct?
that's correct
noted, alright thanks for the help guys
