In most cases while driving my game starts acting all crazy for no reason and stuttering then everything freezes for a couple of seconds and audio cuts off and it goes like that for 10 seconds. This didnt use to happen before in earlier versions of the game (B42) so i dont really know whats the issue (neither did it happen with B41 mp)?
CPU: Ryzen 7 5700g
GPU: Igpu
16gigs ram
sata ssd
plz help

Can you share a recording of the issue? Preferably with the in-game FPS monitor turned on, you can turn it on with the K button
i can do that later today
i noticed the disk usage goes to 100% and thats when everything starts collapsing
why tho i dont get it, it didnt use to do that in earlier builds
Disk usage as in your SSD getting maxed out? That is the first time I heard of that
Can you check your Task manager to see what is actually using the disk? Is it just PZ?
yup
opened task manager when it started bugging out it was maybe 50% disk usage pz alone and like 30-40% some zulu thing
then just "System" spiked up (until it was fully 100% usage) and Projectzomboid and Zulu started going down
i've tried checking if the SSD is the issue but health is 97%, normal temperature and nothing corrupt / broken
That sounds like a lot of things might be going on, so your game is installed on your C drive?
yes
Can you check if you have "Enable Compression" checked in your Zomboid folder?
Advanced settings, Compress contents
nope
It should be off
In that case, can you add an exception to your antivirus for this whole folder in %UserProfile%\Zomboid
tried adding exceptions in both root game folder and zomboid it was still the same
even tried disabling SysMain in case that was causing issues but it didnt change anything
Do you have a D drive?
no, just one drive
tho i tried using steam library tool to make another "instance / drive" one out of Program Files but didnt work either
like 2 steamapps if on the same drive
Hm, you have any mods enabled? Just to rule out issues with them?
I do, they are mostly QoL so they shouldnt really cause issues
sorry i dont mean to chime in here to step on anyones toes i just wanna say i seen a few instances where this happens if u changed any settings during a current playthrough [like zombie respawn rate or maybe adding sprinters mid run] did u happen to do anything like that?
nope, everytime i start a new save on mp i delete the world and the player so its all fresh
no changing mid playthrough
ok just thought i would throw that out there, sorry it didnt help
no worries thanks for trying
I might still suggest testing a new save without them, we have to rule out any mod issues first
at first i started the save and whole shit froze up
near the end of the vid u can see and hear audio cut off and all that mess
i didnt freeze completely but it froze still
Hm, I have not seen something this severe before, can you share your logs.zip file found in %UserProfile%\Zomboid?
Hm, you still have two mods enabled, so I cannot rule out any mod issues. I would first suggest deleting the "Mods" folder in the Zomboid folder
After that, can you set the game to Windowed mode and reproduce the issue? Now instead go to the Task Manager > Performance section and watch your RAM
its the mod manager and sort loader i forgor to disable that
Does it max out, or get to 80 percent? Because swapping will happen at that point
Which will use the disk and degrade performance
i tought it was supposed to use 90% memory
its almost always at 95% usage when playing
No that is usually pretty bad
This is a server right? How much RAM did you assign to it?
i recorded a video
Try going with 4gb, but otherwise I can only suggest disabling as many background apps taking your RAM as possible
That RAM usage is basically hitting your Pagefile, which uses you disk as RAM, with 100x lower performance
Which is why you have the freezes
do you think its the faulty ram?
since i dont even have that much stuff working in the background and its still using too much ram
Hm, can you screenshot the performance > RAM section?
When nothing is running
Want to see your base RAM usage
The RAM doesnt look faulty, but I think I see the issue.. you have an integrated graphics card, right?
Those cards use RAM as their video memory
yeah, i think only 512mb is allocated tho
unless its "dynamic", idk really how igpus work
512mb is basically the internal VRAM, it takes more from your RAM
This seems to just be a compounding issue basically, you have the game taking RAM, your system taking RAM, you have the server taking RAM and now you also have your GPU taking RAM as you are playing the game and loading textures
Basically its just way too much for your RAM, and the system grinds down to a halt
If you did not host a server, you should be able to play the game perfectly fine
But playing on and integrated GPU and hosting a server on top of it is a bit much on 16gb
got it
With a dedicated card you should be fine as well, so its just an unfortunate combination of hardware and all the software
thanks for all the help and information
If you can have your friends host the server instead, then you should have no issues during gameplay
