Hey guys, new here, new to PC, new to owning a PC. Im trying to solve the wipe issue on my build 42 server ( I know sometimes it's required to wipe).
That being said, can someone hook me up with a link for an up-to-date way to make and upload a back save file?
(Also new to making a server and such, I use indifferent broccoli as my server host)
#How to create backup save file for b42?

copy C:\Users\YOUR_USER_NAME\Zomboid\db\servertest.db, folder C:\Users\YOUR_USER_NAME\Zomboid\Saves\Multiplayer\servertest and files in C:\Users\YOUR_USER_NAME\Zomboid\Server
Just to clarify as I am still learning how to do things, will creating this backup save file save all of my progress in game or just my game files like zombie lifespan and such?
If you do as I wrote above, then everything will be saved.
Thanks for the assistance 🙏
Afaik backing up the "Saves" folder is already enough. Or youre hosting a server?
To backup the game version simply copy the game files somewhere else, mark it so you wont forget which version it is and then either launch it through exe file, or if you want to play outdated steam server, add it to steam as an external app
I am hosting a build 42 server, I'm attempting to keep game progress as it seems I am wiped roughly every two weeks via updates.
Im unsure what launching via exe file is or means as well.
I do have zomboid as an external app on my background, but it requires steam to be open for me to launch zomboid.
Also thank you for your patience and understanding with me as I am not very tech savvy.
The .exe file is the executable for most of the game and programs. When you launch a game with steam it just launches an .exe file. So I imagine launching .exe as standalone without steam shouldnt request steam. Unless there's license validation
