This began day of 42.16 release, I decided to wipe all old build folders and prepare for a completely clean install which meant wiping cache folder, workshop (file deletion & unsubscribing), and uninstalling via program manager and through steam.
Upon reinstalling and pressing play, it showed me as in-game for a split second before stopping the application. This happened during both standard and alternate launch. Default alternate launch .bat is throwing the errors in [Screenshot 1]. I also cleared all old versions of JRE/JDK and tried with the last three versions of JDK
After both debugging and repeated file verification, through editing the launch .bat with an individual in a Java discord, we managed to get as far as [Screenshot 2]. No matter how I phrase the launch argument or attempt to enable showing error throws, etc it returns the exact same error. After like 3 hours, he simply said to defer to the devs and report the issue. My husband updated the game same time as me, on a separate device with zero issues. I can't seem to find any real fix online or anyone really with any sort of identical issue. I would love a fresh pair of eyes, thank you! ^_^

Hm, can you try reinstalling the game to the C drive as a test and see if that helps?
ill give that a try after i get home in a bit, i did try running as admin as well. its set as default now
after to moving to C: same error is thrown
both alt and normal launch simply show me playing the game on steam for a split second then closes
Can you check if you have "Controlled Folder Access" enabled in your Windows Security app?
It should generally be disabled
Also check for "Smart App Control"
Is it on or off?
