you can probably keep playing on the outdated branch but yeah... it might just be the saves not compatible... if youre trying to load an old save on the new build it wont work

the game auto saves 5 backups every time you load a save...
check your Zomboid/backups/startup folder... use one that was made before the failed conversion
and maybe create a manual backup while ur in there

There’s 3 version files, 2 from 2.5 weeks ago and one from today after the update

the version backups should be the last running versions that worked...
the most recent one should be on the last version if it works how i think... if not then you might need to fall back 2.5 weeks... but its better then losing everything i suppose

but debugging a save could take a while, if its even possible...
tbh i would suggest just using debug/admin mode on a new save to restore your lost stats/items, rebuild ur base, respawn your cars and move on with ur life lol kinda talking to myself here
