(B41) "Blank overlay texture" in logs

Hello! So I have a bit of a bizarre problem that I have not seen anyone talk about online or in any Discord. I've been experiencing some major stuttering within my game for the past week or so. I've done pretty much everything you can do--comb through (non-debug) logs, uninstall the game, verify files, get rid of mods I didn't think were working, split the mods up and try to isolate the "problem" one, etc etc etc.

The stuttering consistently happens about every 2-3 seconds. I opened up the game in debug mode and realized that the game was sending tens of thousands of "blank texture" lines which lines up with the every 2-3 seconds I was lagging out. In my console.txt alone, after being on the server for a minute, there were over 15,000 instances of it.

I'm not sure if it's a mod issue--I loaded up a solo save with the exact same mods as the server I play on, and didn't get the error once. Other people I play with on the server do not have this issue, it is only me. Does anyone have any advice or pointers??

I have to first ask if you are able to reproduce the issue without any mods first. Or you can try try doing a full reinstall, including the mods as a try to fix any such issues

First, uninstall the game, then go to "Steam\steamapps\common\ProjectZomboid" and make sure there are no leftover files or folders there.
After that, go to “%UserProfile%\Zomboid” and delete everything there except the “Saves” folder.
Then just install the game again and see if that helps.

The issue doesn’t happen without mods. I did a clean install, deleted everything, launched my server, and it still happens. I caught this in the console, though - so I’m going to try disabling this particular mod to see if it’s the culprit.

Hello! So:

I managed to fix the texture issues by locating all of the offending mods, and was successfully able to get rid of those issues. However, I can only assume this issue is due to my connection to the server at this point, because my frame rate hasn't improved. ):

The port on the server is open, I've tried using Steam Relay, and once again my game runs very smoothly in solo with all of the exact same mods. I'm noticing that the console is sending a lot of things related to vehicle distribution as well as a missing xml file? Could there also be a firewall setting that's off or preventing the connection from fully going through? (the SD-tweaks and visual sounds look like theyre printing a lot, but they have had no impact on performance before)

Framerate has nothing to do with your connection

Do you get a low framerate on other servers?

No. My framerate is consistently 90 on another server with very similar mods. 70-80 in high density zones with lots of zombies.

It most likely means there is something specifically wrong with your character or the area you are in on the problematic server

Try joining with a new character in a totally different spawn area

Area doesn't seem to have much of an effect, so it might be the character--I'll try both though
