So here is what's happening

I'll press Create New Settings

#

Put in a name, no numbers or special characters

#

Put in my mods

#

#

And then it takes me directly back here

#

I just think it might be a problem with mac

make it without mods and add them in after it's created with the "edit selected settings" option
