Usually in these kind of settings you have 3 options which is foraging, trapping bunnies, and if your lucky you can find animals like cows.

fishing is good too, one these kinda runs i normally find a river/lake and live in the wilderness, you can make your own fishing rod n all that

and you find lots of fishing bait with foraging

foraging for sure, level it up while it's still early and still summer- winter is brutal and you'd wanna save whatever non-perishables you find for when it comes around
