The game will consistently crash once clicking on the "click to start" menu once loading into your world the only way I have found to get around this is to just constantly try over and over again and it sometimes works. Waiting 5-15 minutes sometimes seemingly helps that might just be a coincidence on my most recent attempt at loading into the game I did use a mod that being "every texture optimized" (see link for more information) in an attempt to see if it works it didn't after that I removed the mod as it did not affect anything.

PC specs:
CPU: AMD A6-3620 (its really old I know but it runs the game alright)
GPU: GTX 1050TI
20GB DDR3 RAM
Linux distro: Pop!_OS 24.04 LTS

It looks like the GPU driver itself is crashing

#

Though you seem to have some mods enabled, can you reproduce the crash without them first?

Something is very unusual in the log though, you have a Nvidia card, right?

#

But the mesa driver is the one being loaded instead...

#

Hm, you are using the Noveau driver for Nvidia?

#

I am not sure that is optimal

i do have an nvidia card

#

i recently found out that i seem to have forgotton to install the nvidia drivers

#

so i did that im gonna try booting the game again

Yeah that would be preferred, since you are basically loading the much weaker open source drivers instead of the proprietary ones

#

And since its those drivers crashing, it would likely be a good solution to install the actual proprietary ones

game started up this time but i did get an error while it was loading could be from the stone anvil?? i noticed it said something about that in the log when i looked it over

I've been on a whole fiasco with the Nvidia drivers everything should be working now though

I think the issues you’re describing also happen on Windows and with AMD. Crashes in the start menu, during the loading process when entering a world, and since the latest update I’ve also experienced a crash within the first ~30 seconds after a world has loaded and you’re already ingame. Could you check if your problems are similar to these?

Indie Stone should really look into the crash issue in depth, because I think it’s something that has been in the game for a long time and it’s quite frustrating. In my case, I’ve been dealing with this for about a year, and it also happened back in build 41. It just feels like every update makes the experience worse (for example, before the crashes didn’t affect me during the first minute ingame, and now that happens too…).
One non‑definitive workaround you can try is adding more RAM — it might fix or at least reduce the problem. The game is a gem, but they really should fix these crash issues, or maybe work on native Vulkan support or something, I don’t know :C
