it loads extremely long when trying to start a server (about 500 mods installed). Is that normal or can I do something against that?

wanton drift
#

Disabling the mods would likely speed up the loading, thats about it

#

More data that needs to load from mods = longer load time

#

Meaning its normal

broken linden
#

its loading for like 2 hours now bruh

wanton drift
#

Are you sure its loading

broken linden
#

How can I check?

wanton drift
#

Describe what the server message is

broken linden
#

when I look in my Data it stops randomly and then I restart

#

it stops downloading

wanton drift
#

No I mean what does the server say when you are loading it

#

You say its loading, is it literally showing you the "Loading" message

broken linden
#

yes it shows the starting server screen

wanton drift
#

Can you screenshot it

broken linden
#

its just the starting server screen

#

it stops randomly downloading when checking the game data

#

Can it be, that some mods are broken and thats why it's not working?

wanton drift
#

Since there is no server message "starting display screen"

#

The server always shows what its doing when you start it

broken linden
#

initialising

wanton drift
#

That doesnt mean its loading, it means its trying to download mods

#

Based on your description, it failed to do that

broken linden
#

what can I do about that?

broken linden
#

thats what I was doing with the restart

#

the mods that load gets more

#

Is there another way like a ready modpack that I can download

opal ibex
#

Uhh take everything I say with a grain of salt

#

Maybe make copy of your world

#

And try to initialize that one without any mods?

#

Besides theres like, being on a HDD, which probably makes It slower. Probably...
And also not having enough ram

#

Try assigning more RAM to your server (prompted that you have enough ram to give)

broken linden
#

everything sounds way too complicated for me

opal ibex
#

Ok so start with ram

#

I'll explain it simple

#

Close everything you dont need on your computer

#

Browser (like Chrome or Firefox)

#

Actually, press ctrl shift esc, that will open task manager, that let you close things more easily because some things you might close, wont really be closed, just hidden

#

Close Discord with task manager

broken linden
#

I think the problem is with workshop it stops downloading randomly

opal ibex
#

You are stuck at downloading stuff? That wasnt clarified

broken linden
#

yes

#

english not my first language I am sorry

opal ibex
#

So you make past the loading screen, and then your game tries to connect to the server, and then that screen with the mods show up?

#

Can you screenshot that screen?

wanton drift
broken linden
#

I do that with the restart since last night and when I see that it stops I start again but its been hours

opal ibex
# opal ibex Can you screenshot that screen?

After you open server, your game will try to connect to it.

That screen I assume you are, is because the client (the part of the game that connects to the server) doesnt actually have the mods the server has. So It has to download it.

But this downloading has always been wacky (I dont know why) and it will stop downloading randomly. You might need to quit and restart back to that screen several times until it actually finishes the download

#

Hopefully my explanation was understandable

wanton drift
#

With 500 mods, you need to do it 100 times

opal ibex
#

Ctrl shift esc to open task manager.

Then at the same time you have zomboid downloading the stuff,

Use the task manager to keep track of zomboid. There, at the task manager. It will show up "disk usage" of zomboid, as it is downloading.

Whenever it goes to a super low value and doesnt seem to want to increase again, that means the downloading has glitched, and you'll know its time to restart

#

@broken linden

This Is the method I use when I go through this problem too. The task manager makes it easy to know when you need to restart
