hii im trying to build a server to play with my friends, but i know b41 is completely different from b42. we've been playing on b41 so far but i was wondering if it's better to play on b42? if so, is anyone willing to help me? i'm so lost on what to do and how to start

so solo i usually kinda stable, depending on mods and what not. but in my experience recently im running a vanilla with one other person and the desync effectively makes it impossible to fight zombies hand to hand
only kinda reliable method of killing is shooting from afar, that even stops sometimes for other people who arent the host
someone made a desync mod that is supposed to fix the issue but it hasnt been updated to the newest version and even then i dont know if id rely on it

well shit lol. i guess i'll stick with b41 then, i was stressing out on how i would be able to make a server and play with friends but if it's like that rn then i would rather stick with b41

id recommend maybe backing up your server and testing b42 if you havent, it adds a whole bunch of qol stuff thats really nice but i kinda found it hard to go back afterwards

i think its more tedious than anything and im definitely no expert, ive only ran servers through the ingame menu and via a dedicated server that i paid for. if anything the most annoying part is inputing the mod and workshop ids because thats all manual
