#Allocating RAM

Latest Build 42 Version trying to locate more ram but it doesn’t work, went to the project zomboid json file and tried allocating more ram and run the game with the command prompt that shows what’s happening while the game is running and it’s saying the game ram that it’s running its 3000 something mb. And yesterday I met a streamer playing on the latest version I asked him does he have his ram allocated he said yes. I asked how he just told me to do the same steps that I did before and I’m still on 3000mb. Is there anyway to setting more ram?

If you mean "running the command" prompt, that means you are running the game through the .bat file

#

The bat file does not use the .json, it sets the ram by itself

#

Meaning you cannot run the game with the .bat file to check the .json assignment

Adjust the .json, and launch through steam, but anytime you verify files on steam it will reset it back to default.

I just launch the game normally instead of using the .bat?

like

every time I leave the game and go in

i should just do it or what

Or edit the .bat instead if you want to launch using it.

Mmmm alright alright and afew more question. When the game updates or gets a new version, point something. Does the ram allocation go back to normal and I have to I change it again to 8G or no? And three last things. When I’m changing the ram allocation. What is better to use Gegabytes as gb or mb. For example. 8gb or 8000 something mb. And uhhhh should I have 2 script lines in my json file or no? One for minimum ram usage and one for maximum ram usage. How can I change the crispy of the .bat program so I see that my game actually is using 8 gb ram?

  • The game generally does not update these files, so they will not be overwritten, they will be if you verify your game files or if the file actually updates
  • It doesnt matter what you use, I personally just use G for simplicity.
  • It is debatable what to use, but if you have a ton of RAM to spare, you can use both Xmx and Xms, since it has slight benefits to not using it.
  • I am not sure what you are referring to by crispy

No matter how much I tried to allocate more memory to the game on the macOS client, nothing worked, and the game periodically crashes with a buffer overflow error.

Okay so first bullet point. They will be overwritten if I verify my game files or if the file actually updates. How does the game overwrite the files and how do I know that the file is updated and it’s changed back to its default allocation.

Second bullet point is it doesn’t matter what I use, Gigabytes for simplicity and mb for more advanced ig.

Third is that if I have a laptop that is 16 gbs ram, should I have 2 script lines such as one for minimum ram allocation and one for maximum ram allocation or should I just keep it one line and change the 3000 megabytes to 4000 megabytes or 4 gigabytes.

Last bullet point is my phone lagged but what I was trying to say is how can I change the script of the .bat program so I see that my game actually is using 8 gb ram and the game is actually running on 8 gigabytes ram
