My friend has set up a server for around 8 people. 5 people so far have joined with no issue. I cannot connect to the server no matter what I do, It always says the server failed to respond. I have done exactly what they did, they even hopped on a stream and we all walked through it together. I have disabled firewall and antivirus and I still cant connect. I have deleted all of my save files, mods, and the game entirely and re-downloaded just the game and that didnt fix anything. I can also join public servers. Does anyone have any ideas?

To check for network issues, can you try connecting through a VPN, or better, try connecting to a different network?
Such as a shared mobile hotspot if you have wifi, then connect to the server
I dont have hotspot functionality on my phone :/ I would try a vpn but cant seem to find a free one and ya boi is broke. Do you have any suggestions?
If a hotspot did work, what would that mean?
It would mean your internet provider is blocking that server specifically
Which is what would be the next step, contacting them why you cannot connect
You can also try something else... try editing the server Info and check the "Use Steam Relay" option
Assuming this is a dedicated server?
If you are from Ukr, but server from RF providers can block incoming connection. Try to ping server IP from command line. If server don't responds, I have a bad news for you. We have absolutely same problem with 2 players
Thank you guys so much for the help, I figured it out. It was security settings within my router. I figured id update you for posterity. It was just a generic setting called online defense so I am unsure what it actually changed
Bro, can you give me more details? Two of my friends have the same problem, they can't connect to my server, although everyone else can.
Ill try my best, I had to log into my router settings. My way to do this was not normal, I had to use an app. But normally, youd try to figure out the default gateway ip for your router, plug that number into whatever web browser they use, and then in after that there should be security settings of some sort. I can not tell you what exactly I changed because 1. I am not very tech savy and 2. the settings were all grouped together for me.
We are all on the east coast of America though, I'm unsure about the problems you mentioned with russian servers and such.
Thank you Bro, I will try to check my router security settings❤️ 🙏
