Can someone let me know why im not able to build stairs here

I also can't build them on the tile to the left (which is why I tried this spot)
I don't think the issue is that the logs aren't close enough to me since theyre all at the top with me

Bottom of the stairs needs to be on a flat floor tile

Aren’t stairs 4 tiles long counting the wood floor tile?

So at minimum you would need a 7 tile distance from the start of the stairs and the building? And in the picture it looks like a 6 tile difference.

Can't place stairs right at the entrance of another set of stairs

entrance and or exit.

i actually was able to place the stairs at the exit of the other stairs. it seems like the actual location was the problem which is why i ended up doing it all the way over there. i did do it in debug mode which might be why it let me do it but it seemed like i wouldve been able to do it without debug

You shouldn't be able to place anything on the top tile entrance/exit to stairs, so it was debug mode that did that
