My son lost a bag filled with loot and his xp journal (mod) on our server. Is there a way to locate it via admin tools or logs? I'm not sure what files would contain item info like this.
He has not logged into his account in a while and it's possible it was lost from a server crash that happened a while back.

You can try checking the logs in User/Zomboid/Logs folder, specifically the item.txt logs
That file contains all file actions, so any item drops or pickups will have their location logged
Example
[26-02-26 19:03:27.361] SteamID"Name" floor +1 582,9415,-1 [Base.Glue].
This means glue was dropped at the coordinates 582,9415,-1
So likely a basement due to the -1
