I keep geting this message when trying to load my multiplayer server with no mods. Any fixes without whiping the entire server?

Hi, if this happened to you after updating from build 42.13.1/2 to 42.14.0/1 and your character had a trait that causes dizziness while driving (or something similar), this is the cause and there's a solution: starting with version 42.13.1/2, delete the trait that was disabled in build 42.14.0 (I don't know the exact name because my language isn't English, but it causes dizziness while driving).

In my case, before updating I take the precaution of making an extra save. I haven’t tried it without doing the save, but if you have a backup, downgrade the game to version 42.13.2 and switch to admin mode — there’s an interface to remove traits. You remove it, exit admin mode if you normally play without it, and then update.

I believe that saves prior to build 42.14.0 were corrupted, and this was fixed in 42.14.0, so I'm not sure how using those backups might affect you. What I used to do was make manual backups (basically copying the zomboid folder). If you don't have a manual backup from a state prior to build 42.14.0/1, then you could try using those backups, but I don't know how it might affect you. If you do, you might notice some anomalies in your world.

Unzip it and paste it in C:\Users????\Zomboid
The ??? would be your username
Remember to downgrade your current Zomboid version to your previous version before starting the game.

If you're having no problems and can log into your character (backups might cause issues if they're corrupted), go into admin mode and there's an interface to disable car sickness. Disable it, then log out of admin mode if you're playing normally and update the game.

Still does not seem to work. Could i still keep the map and the progress on it by giving the folders to a frind of mine?

The "loading player profile" error only affects the player character, not the world. Basically, you have a state that, in principle, "doesn't exist" in build 42.14.0/1, and the server has deactivated or suppressed it. The only way to recover the character is to remove the state in a previous game version.
If you play on a server, this must be done by the server owner; if you play in your own world, you must do it yourself.

#

As I told you, the backups prior to build 42.14.0 were corrupted, and it was better to make manual copies (I used one so a friend could recover his character). But both of you can continue and even play normally as long as you didn’t have the status effect that causes dizziness in cars. If you want to recover the character, you need a save from a game prior to 42.14.0 and from there remove the status in admin mode. Otherwise, consider the character lost, but the world won’t be affected if you update — you’ll just have to create a new one.

#

From that interface you see in the image, I removed my friend's status so he could recover his character.

Alright thanks a lot for the help

Wait one more question. How do i delete my character?

To recover the character, what you need is to remove the trait from your character in a build prior to this one. I think the server deletes it automatically if you try to log in again — the first window that appears will look similar to the image I’ll send you now, and the second window will send you to create a new character. If what you want is to recover your character, you need to remove the trait; otherwise, by trying to log in several times, the game should eventually let you in, but it will send you to the character creation window (assuming you have it updated).

#

To remove the trait, you need to switch to the game or server (depending on where you're playing), become admin, and click on the interface shown in the previous image I sent you.

#

I think the server/game deletes the character itself if you do it in the updated version, or at least that's what happened to my friend.
