A Year Prior.
Thursday, May 2nd 2002.
The late evening Friday sun filled the office of the Administrator of The Black Mesa Research Facility, a Doctor Wallace Breen. That day had been as mundane as to be expected, he approved and declined budget cuts to departments and attended meetings he cared little for.
A knock at the door startled him out of his stupor and in walked a man in a blue suit, the man sat at his desk and offered him an offer he had no chance of refusing.

”The Whole World Went To Hell That Day.
Friday May 16th, 2003.
It was supposed to be a mundane day, a colleague being late to work, power outages and power divergents that were supposed to end after an experiment. It was supposed to be a normal experiment, a simple analysis.
Dr. Breen attended a meeting with Aperture Science CEO Caroline ______ in an attempt to buyout Aperture’s portal research. Dr. Gordon Freeman was running late to work and that same man in the blue suit was walking around the facility, seeming to be waiting for something to happen.
But a few small, simple nudges changed the events of that day and the world forever.
The experiment began but something went horrifically wrong, a brilliant green light exploded from the testing chamber and echoed from the facility and engulfed the nearby town of Rosewood, shortly after strange creatures began appearing, teleporting into the region. Small, crab like creatures attached to the heads of scientists, security guards and civilians alike. Mutating and warping them into zombie-like monstrosities, driving their hosts to kill and maim the surviving population.
Hours later, an emergency distress call was issued by Black Mesa scientists Drs. Cross, Green and Rosenberg. The Hazardous Environment Combat Unit was dispatched immediately from the nearby Fort Redstone, they put up fences in the town to contain the chaos. Evacuated the few civilians who hadn’t been witness to the Resonance Cascade and began executing those who had seen too much. After dealing with Rosewood, they drove to the Facility to do the same thing…
