Hi! I recently came back to project zomboid to try to play but I keep running into a problem of constant stuttering and severe freezing. this is likely my hardware being way too low end but id like to know if there are potential fixes.

Hardware specifics:
Linux Mint 22.3 - Cinnamon 64-bit

Intel© Core™ i3-3110M CPU @ 2.40GHz × 2

Intel Corporation 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller (integrated)

8gb of ram DDR3, using a harddisk.

I've seen increased stability from disabling 3d items and ragdolls

id appreciate any sort of help,

Playing on pure vanilla ^ (latest unstable)

The problems are VERY likely just tied to your hardware, as you're trying to use a CPU and iGPU that is as old as PZ is itself. You can attempt to try and use different proton versions within steam and make sure you're running completely minimal settings.

a sad realisation, i suppose ill need to start off by getting an SSD and additional ram to increase the stability issues

Both will help, but likely not by much if at all. You will still have your CPU as the bottleneck.

It would most likely be due to the specs, you can check the Resource Monitor on Linux mint to see the usage, if your CPU / RAM or even GPU usage is capped during gameplay, then you are out of luck on a laptop
