can't launch 42.14 update

I am having exactly the same problem, I just updated to 42.14.1 and validated all files.

Can you try doing a full reinstall?
First, uninstall the game, then go to "Steam\steamapps\common\ProjectZomboid" and make sure there are no leftover files or folders there.
After that, go to “%UserProfile%\Zomboid” and delete everything there except the “Saves” folder.
Then just install the game again and see if that helps.

I did specify to leave the Saves folder undeleted, so you can keep them

Leftover class files from Realistic Car Physics was causing my problem. I renamed the zombie folder in my game install directory and I am good now.

it works on 42.14, I updated mine and got it working. the issue with reading things was apparently my clean UI mod, turned it off and had no issues since
