It used to be possible but I think there is an issue in B42.12 and before you could use the Z menu option near the back of some vehicles and walk to the trunk entrance location to hop into a seat. Now as of 42.13 it doesn't seem to work anymore, but the character still paths like the location is still present. If the location isn't present it automatically would actually walk to the closest normal door. So I am guessing there is an issue of putting the character into the seat from the trunk entrance location.

I am not aware of such an option, could you share a video of the character pathing like that?
Yeah, I can. I can also get the B42.12 installed to show how it used to work, that will take a moment though.
Sorry for the delay. Was setting up the depot for b42.12 to install. It is still working. But, here is how the pathing works for b42.13.
The character still paths like there is a way to enter but it doesn't function. The character just walks to the trunk location point and stands still.
This is from b42.12. You can see how the character can actually use the trunk entrance and jump into the desired seat you pressed with the Z menu key. This only works for certain vans, I don't remember the full list though.
Did not know that was possible before. Interesting!
Interesting, that is certainly an unusual change, I will ask QA to see if this is an intended change or not
I used it a ton because sometimes trunks were unlocked. Keys inside the glove box, but doors were locked. So this allowed a higher chance of getting vehicle day one in riverside that was reliable and with generator magazines.
Though to be fair, if it is removed that is fine. It was a bit broken in a way because you can use them as one way doors when running away from zombies, or to make an entirely safe car wall that are one way doors. I know that isn't intended and it was probably added for realism, but I can see people just abusing it. I personally tested it and it does work, but it is a big wrong to use so for normal gameplay I didn't use it. I just liked being able to jump in the back as it felt nice and realistic.
Sorry to bug you, were you able to get a response on this?
Yes, most likely intended change
Okay, hopefully they remove the pathing feature then, because it is a bit strange to still have that. Thank you for the update. 🙂 Sad to see it go, but for balancing it makes sense.
So I found a way to remove the pathing issue, and it isn't too hard for them if they wanted to remove the pathing. All of them are labeled as "outside2" so search function on scripts for outside2 leads to only scripts with the outside2 locations for seats. Though it seems to be only in 6 vehicles.
