#Cannot claim most residential buildings on dedicated server B42
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Your server settings must be set wrong. Open your server options type safehouse in the search bar and screenshot your safehouse settings for us to see.
If your settings are good, my next question is what mods did you install and not vet?
Not currently running any mods. Here are the safehouse settings from the INI file @alpine canyon
What message do the players get when claiming it?
That the building is a non-residential building, even when it seems to be residential and similar buildings have been claimable in B41.
It is also common enough that most players complain that finding a residential house that is claimable is hard.
These are examples from some of the members of houses that came up as being non-residential when they tried to claim them. All of the houses in the second picture were reporting as non-residential. Both pictures were taken in Louisville, but we've had reports of similar cases in other areas of the map too.
We've had admins log in and ensure there is nothing else blocking the claim.
In this final example, this one building is claimable but the other 3 aren't. We can't really figure out why from the admin team's side.
Looking through the bug reports, I cannot find any bug report about this issue
Is this also reproducible on a new server? Even a testing one? Could you give me coordinates to one or more of the buildings so I can check myself?
I'll see if I can get you coordinates. I haven't tried standing up another server. I have limited hardware so it might be a challenge but I'll check. There are people all over the Steam community and the PZ modding Discord who have said this is a known bug but it seems to not affect everyone 🤷♂️
I believe this thread was the same issue - https://discord.com/channels/136501320340209664/1449780954066452521
The response I got on the PZ Modding Community Discord:
From the comments in that mod link FYI:
I'll get more proof, but I believe some of the admins found posts where this was reported on the official PZ forums as bugs, and got dismissed as not reproducible
The only thing the server does atm that isn't clear in the settings is we run two large-ish non PvP zones to isolate Irvington as a PvP area. But there are no mods, this is done via vanilla zone creation
Most likely because the reports were done by mods or on older game versions
A lot of bug reports are done like that, which is not correct, we cannot accept older game bugs or modded bugs
The issue has to be reproducible on the latest version, converted saves are not permissible
It is possible the PvP zones could trigger the issue, but as mentioned, it first has to be done on the latest version and unmodded
I'm logged in as admin now, the house at 12312, 3137, 0 says it's non-residential and cannot be claimed.
We had a fresh wipe on the 5th of Feb, where I deleted the entire save directory in the Zomboid folder and did a clean server start essentially
So it should all be latest build etc
Happy to provide more logs or other documents to get this some attention. It's been probably the biggest complaint on the server for B42
I'd be happy if it's just a setting or something we got wrong
Building north of it does the same
Let me ask QA if this is a known bug, in case I missed something in the reports section
Alright double checked with QA team, and this issue is known and already internally fixed
However, I cannot promise it will be released in the next patch
Awesome. Is there any indication of what causes it? At the moment we've not been able to identify anything consistent about the ones that can't be claimed
Supposedly there is a problem with the kitchen room definition
But I havent really looked much into it, the devs seem to have found something weird there though
I suspected it would be some tile or object that makes the building get flagged non-residential since it's from another set or something
Thank you for looking into it. We'll have fingers crossed it gets released soon. As mentioned most of our player base complain about it
In that area alone I did a quick spot check and these are all not claimable. And it's spread across the whole map.
Did all the houses in the screen, just in case this illustrates the sort of scale of the problem
