So I was trying to setup a dedicated for this, and it just hangs on join game. The server is hosted on an ubuntu server locally here, ports are forwarded in the server and the router, i am connecting via the local ip(if i do the external ip it doesnt see the server at all). Ive set other servers up for multiple games on the same shell. Im at a loss, thoughts?

Usually a mod needs updated, or the version the server is running doesnt match yours. Make sure your server, its mods, and your game/mods are all up to date or on the same version.
That was the problem for me at some point anyway.
I don't think that is the case, booting it without mods on thr server (client does have them but not enabled), steamcmd installed beta unstable version
Do you have Windows?
My personal computer is windows yes, the server computer is on ubuntu?
Oddly enough, if i boot a pz server via amp management software, I can connect, anyone outside cant, wondering if my router isnt forwarding how it is supposed to
It would usually be a port forwarding problem at that point
Rarely user error where they write the incorrect ip / port combo, had that happen
ive checked, double and triple checked
I've tried tcp, udp, combo, everything, im at an absolute loss
Try removing the port forwarding and re-add it, sometimes that works as well
did that as well
And double check your Local IP, in case it changed
Did that as well
Hm, and are you certain your internet provider assigned you a public IP?
Since only those can host dedicated servers
yep, i host mc, vrising, website, stream site, etc
Got it, can you share the server logs in that case? In the User/Zomboid folder
server-console.txt
And can you send your server IP? Can do it privately, I want to try a connection myself
To remove any user errors
Hm, can you also share the game console.txt file?
Because you are on an older server version
I want to confirm you are also on the old client
that is the amp version(cube coders amp software), the steamcmd manual instlal and such, i cant attempt to connect, amp allows me to connect, but no one else, but hold on
Well, do the others who tried also have the old version installed instead of the latest one?
yep
booting up the manual steam version to give the logs for it
this is the server log from the manual steamcmd version
and that is my console log from player game
And the steamcmd version, i cant join, it hangs on join game infinetly(nor can anyone else), the amp version i can connect, but no one else can
Look right at the top
version=42.13.2
You have two different server versions
The SteamCMD is the latest, your AMP one is the old one
This is from your client:
LOG : General f:0, t:1770322959803> version=42.13.1
yeah i know that part
So your client is on the old version
Thats the reason you cannot join the SteamCMD version
Which one do you want to troubleshoot in this case?
forget amp
Okay, I am on the latest version, if you sent me the IP I can attempt a connection to the SteamCMD one
If the server is running right now
It is, i sent to you
Failed to connect to it
Has to be a port issue in that case..
i guess, all i can think at this point is it is something to do with spectrum routers, cause everything is open like it is supposed to be
Possible, you could try testing all the layers
Turn off ufw temporarily, then I can check the connection
If it fails, I would move to the router
You could open the Steam ports on the router:
https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/2EA8-4D75-DA21-31EB
ufw is disabled on server, i cant disable it router side
Yeah still no luck
It is interesting that the connection is recieved in the logs though
The server is running on bare metal right?
Bare metal?
Thats fine then, I would suggest opening the Steam ports in that case to see if that helps
check your versions. you will get stuck on joining game if the client and server is not on the same version.
had that problem when 42.13.2 came out
DoLuaChecksum=true
will also kick a player if on, but should get a warning on client
yeah we found the version issue, but i gotta take a break, close to saying screw it
@maiden drum do not take a break. I asked you if you had Windows, because HaruHostGSM makes it a lot easier. You should have no problems installing and running a server with it. (HaruHostGSM is made for Windows).
