so ive been mass harvesting logs in unstable build 42 and now suddenly it wont finish the crafting animation. it gets to the very end and wont turn the log into a plank. is there a fix for this?

I was able to fix this by equipping the Log in my primary slot, haven't had an issue since.

It didn't matter the tile contents for me when i had the same issue.
Troubleshooting Steps:
Moving the log to a different tile
Sawing specific Logs in a stack
- this solved the issue for some of the logs in the stack, but the problem followed the log when moved to another tile
Moving the log to inventory - this worked majority of the time
Equipping the log to primary or Secondary - Primary has worked every time

I would suggest forwarding it as a bug report if it is reproducible without mods
