Mode: Multiplayer
Sever settings: Host
Mods: None
Save: Save we've been playing for the past two weeks
Reproduction steps:

  1. Unrelated computer crash when closing Steam Overlay forces me to power cycle computer, abruptly killing server
  2. Loading back in, our base has been reset to blank map state
  3. The backups only restore character position since they clearly do not back up the ~800 MB of world data

Everything we'd placed or built disappeared, cars were gone, and basically only characters were unharmed who, despite having fullscreen maps blanked out, were still clothed correctly and had the right perks, levels, books and media read, and xp values. Backups were clearly too small to include world data, so I gave up in frustration and we stopped for the day. Yesterday we loaded the backup and discovered all progress from the previous day had been reset since backups only happen on startup, but what initially looked like a fully restored save quickly showed that certain things remained, but most things were reset. We were returned to our car away from our base with everything loaded into the trunk correctly, and the buildings we loaded into still seemed like we looted and killed a couple zombies in them. Most corpses were all in the same place except for our base, where they had already been regularly disappearing. When we drove home, the building was fresh spawned like when we first got there, everything we had owned was gone, and zombies were back. We spent two hours respawning everything we could remember owning, but suffice to say were not interested in playing after that.
All our bases have frequently seen corpses and items vanish from the floor throughout the entire time we've played b42 MP. This has been the only truly interruptive bug, which is wonderful, but it took everything this time. Recently dropped or placed items not in a shelf or crate seem most endangered.
