Switch 41 to 42 - reset of long play due game updates?

Hi everyone, a great person I started to play with is playing in 41 but the other people I am playing with want to play only in 42
The new guy said he doesn't like getting a reset in a long play through due to game updates. I am not even sure what he means.
Can anyone help me to understand and how we would prevent that?

It means he doesn't want to play B42 until he's done with his current B41 save lol

He probably means that there are a lot of updated happening in B42 that can and eventually will break saves.

You should not expect any long term playthroughs in B42, so some people prefer to stay on 41 if you expect to play on the same save for months

I wouldnt expect save to last longer than a month or two on Unstable

Would he looses his long play saves if he switches the versions? Like I first played the pre set version, then changes to 42 to play with one grade and then switched back to play with this guy and then switched to 42 again 😅 Thought it was possible to do it like that

He would not, as long as the saves are not loaded on the new version

But just as a precaution, you can always manually backup all the files in %UserProfile%\Zomboid

I recommend compressing them into a zip file, that way you wont lose the saves if anything happens
