#Cant hit some zombies, un-targetable, 42.13.2

might be a desync issue? i relogged and was able to kill one that i couldnt before but then immediate ran into the issue again with new zombies.
They can hit us but we cannot hit them
3 different players and myself have experienced this.
I got this immediately after the update but not again after restarting
EDIT: looks like I still have the problem. Sometimes you also can't stomp on zombies, instead it attempts to push them
we are playing in a group of five. we all had that problem. it became so big that 2 of us lost 1 month old characters. we immediately stooped the playthrough and hope for a quick fix
Out of interest, you had Zombie Target outlines on or off? Should be only UI, but while others experience it with the setting on, on the same server others arent experiencing it with the setting off
we had outlines on. but it didnt change the fact that you couldnt hit the zombies. we are all experienced players and tried to hit from different angles. most of the time the only chance to get one of those glitched zombies down was pull them over to a total different area.
our first thought was "may we just didnt hit and trusted the outline". but it happened too often and it was clear, that it wasnt just the outlines. then we tried to get closer to them and they were just not hitable

Just saying that we have people on our server hitting and others just missing thru the bug, i'm just trying to locate the issue

Where on the map were you experiencing this? Might be an Area bug

We are around the Scarlet Oak Destillery. 2 month in game. So there arent too many hordes anymore. Quite chill around there
I aint that experienced in this game to go there alone lol, but from what i hear other cities are fine, hear reports from Westpoint and Louisville being bugged

Out of interesst can you overload your character by grabbing things basically unlimited in Muldraugh?

I was able to pick up like 170 in fuel, if you overloaded the task row before reaching the Limit you could exeed it ^^
did you grab it over the drop down menu? this bug appeared for us since the last hot fix. so we can grab or "take all" instead of swiping items into inventory
so i am wondering if this is also a local bug

the people on my server were also around lousiville
+2, we’re faced this bug in Fallas Lake, Echo Creek and Ekron now. Almost die trying to hit the lying zombie
The only way to kill them is to shoot in the head

Experiencing the same issue, sometimes just cannot hit a zombie. Seems like the outlines appear, you try to hit but the outlines disappear and your hit goes to void instead of hitting the zombie in front of you.
Also for zombies on ground the outlines just flicker, but cannot attack them.
At first I thought this was an error on the server installation after update, so I tried reinstalling but that did not solve the issue.
Was this on a new 13.2 world?
No it's a world created in 13.1, I just reinstalled the server files but kept the save.
apparently on native 13.2 saves this is not an issue

Well, I just tested it on my migrated to 42.13.2 world (dedicated server), and couldn’t catch this bug. However, yesterday, right after migration, we faced it every ≈10 mins

Started a brand new world in 13.2, but still experiencing this issue
Travelling seems to trigger it more frequently, i was on foot a few days and everything was fine, had it like 1 time per 2 days.
Now i'm in a car and basically every stop i gotta relog due to the Bug appearing
Yeah i cant submit the server file because we use mods. But we use pretty light mods so im pretty sure its part of the desync issues that have been sa consistent issue.
Unfortunately to be 100% sure id need to wipe the mods, and my server then ask players to test for me. Just not worth the effort.
If you’re not using mods you might have the holy grail save.
If you are using mods, share your list so I can see if there is anything in common that could be the culprit.
At this moment, the developers found some issues with targetting and will fix possibly in the next patch, you can check if that solves this issue as well or if it would be different
I hope the devs can push an early patch even if it's simply to correct this problem. Invulnerable zombies are EXTREMELY game breaking and it would such to wait a whole month just to see this issue being corrected. I've heard people just giving up on playing entirely until it is fixed.

we are also having the untargetable zombie issue in mp, just as described in this thread. fresh 42.13.2 server, outlines on, using a handful of mods but none that were in wokki's list. occurred in riverside with relatively few zombie around
can anyone confirm whether the problem goes away with all mods removed? or does the problem continue in vanilla?
No one unmodded has come here to report anything otherwise, unfortunately.

seeing individial reports that [42.13]MP Bug Fixes Combined 42 was helpful, but also ppl saying they tried it as well with no avail
@pulsar mural for your players, if you Press L Alt and Ctrl for melee you can stomp or hit on the ground regardless, that at least works for the zomboids on the ground for us
For the Ones still standing or walking I Personally walk away for a few steps, as soon as the Zomboid enters melee range it is vulnerable for... idk what short time, but if I try to hit it before it enters it usually hits and pushes back
i appreciate the attempt to help but this doesn't help with fighting groups of zombies, which is where the problem really emerges
We're on an unmodded 13.1 world that's been migrated to 13.2, friends in Louisville are seeing it a few times an hour. Relogging fixes it but it's extremely deadly unless working in a tight group.

We have a fresh, unmodded 13.2 and when we fight as a group it always happens: you get one zombie that doesn't react to getting hit. It's not a connection issue because the host is the one who has the problem more often. He's playing short blades and getting close to the zombies seems to be causing it somehow.
90% of the times I get this issue is after they get really close and try to grab you but you're moving and they get interrupted
Its a known bug at this point. The devs are working on it. The desync issues are the real beast. The targeting one i've found if i run away from said zombie i can come back and target it, but something i have to kite them for a minute. Annoying for sure.
forwarding some comments of mine that i sent on the wrong post:
there's a few solutions to this. relogging does fix it, and frequent server restarts can help. upon restarts, i noticed the rate of encountering untargetable zombies decreases considerably.
i would also temporarily consider using the safe login mod since players are forced to constantly relog to deal with this.
you can actually hit untargetable zombies for a split second when they are at specific melee weapon ranges. multihit can help them become targetable again when their outline merges with those of unbugged zombies.
i play with multihit and personally did not find it alleviated the problem
think i just swung right through the untargetable ones
we also ran into the bug too often and too suddenly for relogging to be much of a solution except in the bandaid sense

Yea confirmed this issue happens on fresh servers - unfortunately it makes MP unplayable
i just hope that they push a mini hotfix immediately once the issue is fixed and dont just hold to push it along other things
this is one of the most game breaking things possible in all of zomboid

nope, all we can do is wait for a patch. could be hours away, could be weeks away
Moving away from the zombie and resetting the targeting can fix it in a pinch. Alternatively relogging can fix it temporarily.
Not great when your fighting a horde and three of them just walk through your attack... gotta be careful.

im not entirely sure its the same bug exactly, the outline is not disappearing, but yes targeting is still fucky in some way
sometimes ill hit a zombie and it'll connect, or at least i see the outline and i hear the sound, but the zombie doesnt flinch and just keeps going
