In other games, I can just add the user SteamID to a text file.....
Zomboid... apparently I need to add a username.... Random Password.... Share it with them....
Is there an easier way??? This seems really over looked...
Why should an admin go through all these steps to add users..

That is what you have to do, mildly annoying I suppose. I can access my console from my phone so it's not bad.
You'll want to use
adduser "user name" "password"
In the case of my server, since its RP, I have players make a character sheet then I use the character name for the UN and have them DM a password they want.
Keeps the trolls at bay at least.
You can also do this in game from the player list menu.

Both adding a Steam ID, or just adding a username without a password, so players can choose it themselves (mostly for GoG servers)
