This a list I've kept floating around for the repeated question that comes up a lot. Not all mine; others are taken from various server members who commented.
PZ Beginner's Tips:
- Watch beginner's guides on YT. Example "101 tips for beginners". PS. Even the older ones may have relevant feature info which can be helpful.
- Play the tutorial, and die.
- Start your own playthrough, and resist getting into mods too early in playing PZ.
- Get used to melee combat before switching to firearms, since being efficient at melee will save your ass.
- Start off playing single player instead of **multiplayer, until you're more familiar with the game mechanics.
- Avoid indoor combat (if you can), and also avoid killing zombies inside a place you'll be spending time inside (e.g. a base)
- Learn from each death, cos you will die. Don't be put off by it when it happens.
- Stay clear of zombies when possible, or when tired/exhausted. Fight only when you are absolutely fresh, or need to.
- Try to alert smaller numbers from a larger zombie crowd, to avoid getting swamped.
- Take it slow, and don't rush things.
- Always rip some rags before leaving your house. You can use these as bandages.
- You can disinfect bandages with alcohol or boiling water from a water-filled container on a stove, which helps healing times.
- Wound infections aren't zombie infections, and their symptoms are separate.
- Make a sheet sling bag out of curtains to carry extra gear right from the start.
- Make sure to spawn in with shoes, and then keep an eye on the state of your shoes.
- If you're experiencing nausea, fever, and panic, you're probably infected.
- DO NOT microwave metal items. You will burn your house/town down.
- Walk 99% of the time (even during combat - when you can), so you have endurance to run at 1% when it's needed.
- Get familiar with the in-game Sandbox Options. This will help with the many game optimisation/customisation options available.
