::About us::
Mankind's Long Night is hosted by a small team of players who met on various other Zomboid servers. Speaking on behalf of the owner, Many zomboid servers have issues with either gameplay balance or staff management. The owner has many years of experience managing and growing communities for many different games such as Project zomboid, Arma 3, Conan Exiles, Dayz, Minecraft and many more. Here, we are focused on growing a community who enjoys RP, variable gameplay and character Development. We try and leave Drama at the door and push off the real world struggles to sit down and enjoy an amazing game.

With the unstable Build 42 multiplayer release, many players are wanting to dig into that, but at this time, the owner does not find it stable enough or enjoyable enough to play full time. So, we will be monitoring its development closely and once things balance out a bit more Mankind's Long night will transfer over to B42 but for now, we will remain on the stable B41.

We do monthly purges, given how many people seem to just join servers with 0 intent on actually playing the game or interacting with the community we find it helps to keep the discord number accurate to how many people actively come around and play the game. With that being said, we understand folks invest time into other servers, other games and Real life. So as long as you play every now and then, you'll remain on the server. if you are removed, and come to join back. All prior info will be reinstated to the best of our ability.

:: The mods ::
Our mod list is massive, and is feeding into the general feel myself and the other mods want from this server. We do take requests, and cut out mods when they aren't being used. Lore for the Kingsmouth Outbreak
Setting the Stage: Kingsmouth and Eventure Islands
In 2012, Kingsmouth, a luxurious resort island off the Kentucky coast, was a symbol of wealth and leisure. Known for its sprawling beautiful beaches and high-end hotels, it was a coveted vacation destination for the region’s elite. Across a massive, multi-lane highway stood Eventure Island, a slightly more commercialized locale, featuring High Rise condos and apartments, casinos, and nightlife that catered to thrill-seekers and families alike. The two islands were connected by the Kingsmouth Causeway, a marvel of modern engineering that bridged the otherwise isolated paradises with the Kentucky mainland.
The region was booming economically, with rumors of future expansions and developments. Media outlets heralded Kingsmouth and Eventure Islands as the pinnacle of Kentucky tourism. Yet, under this facade of prosperity and leisure, an invisible storm was brewing.
The Outbreak Begins
The first signs of trouble came subtly, almost unnoticeably, in late August. Reports surfaced of a mysterious illness spreading through Louisville and the surrounding rural areas. Initially dismissed as a virulent strain of the flu, the sickness caused fever, confusion, and violent behavior. By mid-September, these cases had escalated, with entire households going silent. News anchors spoke of "civil unrest" and "localized disturbances," but as communications faltered, it became clear that the situation was spiraling out of control.
On Kingsmouth, the news was taken lightly. Visitors and residents alike were cocooned in their sense of safety, insulated by water and isolation. Local authorities, under pressure to maintain the island’s reputation, assured everyone that the mainland’s issues wouldn’t cross the causeway. However, whispers among dockworkers and ferry operators suggested otherwise. Soon after these rumors began to spread, the news would start airing stories about quarantine and military deployments on US soil. Marshal law being declared in most major cities across the US. In the days following the fairies that brought people and vehicles to and from the island would stop arriving. The island was suddenly cut off from the outside world, and with landlines and cell towers soon following. No information was getting on or off the islands besides for news broadcasts.
The Catalyst: Eventure Island’s Fall
Eventure Island’s descent into chaos came slowly but surely creeping from the waters around them. A shipment from Louisville arrived by ferry. It carried not just cargo but also infected individuals—asymptomatic carriers who succumbed mid-transit. By the time the ferry docked, its crew had become ravenous husks, attacking dockworkers and any nearby personnel. The island's police force was quick to put down the infected individuals and placed the island under a form of martial law but within the next 24 hours, the vibrant amusement parks and casinos became deathtraps. The dead started washing up on the shores of the isle, police were quickly overwhelmed and torn to pieces as they tried to enact a safezone by the police station itself and the mall just across the street. All quarantine efforts failed and those who survived the first few days of the attacks, quickly found themselves alone and surrounded on all sides.

Military Intervention and Collapse

The U.S. government took swift action in setting up quarantine zones and trying to enact martial law, deploying all branches of the U.S Armed forces across the country in efforts to set up safe zones and walled perimeters around major cities. To those within the state of Kentucky, Louisville was said to be walled and secured with The army and Airforce, screening people and letting survivors in via a checkpoint on the southern side of the city.

#

Just as soon as these broadcasts started, they stopped. Rolling power outages sweeping over the entire state of Kentucky. And just like that, those stuck on the islands were in the dark, with no contact to anyone not on either of the once beautiful vacation islands.
