nope, not once you get to that point.

i make it a habit of quitting every hour or so, or before a big push on a new spot ( to title, not to desktop) wait until the music starts back up again, and i have the ability to continue, alt tab to the desktop, and copy my save file folder.

that way, if shit goes down like that, or if I just find that I wasted a bunch of time and resources like I did last night driving into coalfield, just erase the current save, rename the last backup to remove - copy(x) , and then copy again

You can roll a backup if on a mp server. If playing solo, you might want to consider making manual backups.
