my father-in-law volunteers for a place that does the food rescue slash cheap bulk produce for people thing, pay 20 bucks, get a box with several heads of lettuce, a bunch of tomatoes, some onions, and whatever random produce they rescued from a landfill that week. sometimes they get stuff that doesn't really split well to give to other people, and they offer it to the people that volunteer with them. Queue my father-in-law calling me to come over because he's gotten a bunch of tomatoes and a 5 gallon BOX of milk. He spends a few minutes finding various containers to pour the milk into for me to take some of it home.. and I was looking at this assemblage of pickle jars, mayonnaise containers, and jars that used to have mixed nuts in them and thinking.. this feels like a zomboid moment
