#Can't add to soup.
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
what ingredients do you have
what build are you on again
I'm on version 41.78.16 (Steam)
what are you trying to add to it?
meat
Can you add meat?
Why wouldn't you?
try putting one of the items in your inventory then clicking on the soup pot
oh frick is it because its frozen lol
What about Pasta? I can't add it either.
I'll try thawing the ground beef then
pasta i never made in 41 so im not sure you can try asking in #pz_b41_chat if you havent already asked ill see if i can see anything on google
Google just says "Soup can use fish roe, bell pepper, dandelions, seaweed, acorn, dry ramen noodles, peanut butter, peanuts, lemon, lime, nettles, thistles, and rose hips as ingredients, but stew cannot."
which isn't that helpful imo
yeah google might be difficult since most people are on 42 , im looking on steam forums cause pasta problems would come up a lot on there lol
Like I asked in chat earlier, is this soup you made from scratch or one you found already in a pot and sitting around?
How come most people are on 42?
Because 42 has alot of new features.
one I found lying around. I've been able to add to pasta pots lying around, so I assumed it was the same for soup
For soup you can't. It's a "generic soup" that's standalone.
I literally just bought the game, I have no idea.
it has animals and crafting overhaul , just beta unstable so if people want saves that have no risk for being corrupted i would stay on stable
Think of it as already-mixed canned soup.
sigh this game really doesn't make crafting or cooking easy to understand
It sure doesn't hold your hand. But like CDDA and other similar games, there's alot of weird things to discover.
yeah lol its quite the learning curve , did the thawed meat work in the pot at all?
Yeah, the tutorial is very lacking. I didn't even notice the furniture button until several hours in, or even how to work on cars...
no
just watch a guide

I also just recently learned that fridges have a freezer section...
for example
yah pz is very indepth , i still learn stuff about the game years after having it
I shouldn't have to watch a guide just to play the game imo. The game should be clear enough on its own.
also the combat is very wonky. A dumb misclick has killed me too many times as the area to click to hit is very small
That and I had water shutoff on me 3 days in on what is supposedly easy mode...
i mean
you dont
the game LITERALLY has a tutorial
and no offense, but it is VERY lacking.
plus the AEBS radio broadcast tells you when the power will shutoff
It's one of those games where they hide everything in the main game.
i mean its just meant to teach the basic controls and mechanics
its not gonna tell you EVERYTHING
There's a few like those, and some are cult classics. A "like it or you don't" sort of game really.
thats what makes it fun
this
Right, but I feel like some of the basics never got explained, like building/moving furniture
combat is really hard , it took me a while to get the hang of because of the isometric stuff
the crafting tab is RIGHT there
Yeah those are kinda hidden in the "survival guide" which is more like the manual.
and the game tells you what you can craft and what you cant
Sure, the game doesn't need to hand-hold all the advanced stuff, but losing so often early on because the game gave me no direction on BASIC stuff is very frustrating
But it's true that alot of things, even menu functions aren't explained.
im sure they will polish it more especially with the crafting , i got pretty overwhelmed when 42 came out with the craftin stuffs
I still have no idea how hunger works. One playthrough I got overweight, another underweight, like WTF
B42 kinda improved on the interface, but another two steps too far with all the extra content.
I keep getting hungry ALL the time
lol i had to turn my chararcter stats going down , slower in sandbox , in 41 losing weight is a issue cause in 42 we have cows so we can make butter which helps a lot with that lol
i think we fished in 41 mainly? spear fishins
I dont see what the issue is with watching a guide
just figure stuff out on your own or watch a guide
shrimple
Its not watching a guide that's the issue, its that I feel like it is bad game design if you can't just boot up a game and play it reasonably without having to invest hours learning the game BEFORE starting one.
i get what theyre saying , they are saying like say the internet was not a thing and youre trying to figure out how to cook lol theres really no indiciation on how to do that
idk some games are inherently going to be that way
this isn't COD
and some mechanical depth won't be explained
even from triple A games
Well, I have never played COD, so I can't speak to that, but this is the first game I have played where I have felt completely lost within the first hour of playing.
But yeah I think I see your point, but its just the reality of the situation
thats fine
thats normal
I'm not saying remove all the mystery and learning, just provide SOME direction rather than letting new players completely flounder. I honestly almost refunded the game but I chose to join this discord for help as Google was no help.
and I've never refunded a game before.
The fact that the game was so frustrating (and not in a the game is supposed to be hard kind of way), but in a "I can't understand how any of the mechanics work" kind of way, is VERY offputting to new players.
yah my friend that played with me had the same problem
It's a valid critique. Just so happens that it's usually a feature in this sort of games, where most of the mechanics are not explained.
That makes it very difficult for newcomers who don't know what they're in for/not experienced with CDDA-type games. They're stuck with either going in completely blind or forced to face D&D campaign-sized manuals and result in info overload.
I stayed about 3 weeks in sandbox just getting the basics right.
dnd mention?
cdda?
Yeah, I pretty much knew nothing about the game, just that a lot of steam friends have played it, it has good reviews, that it was a crafting zombie survival game, and it was on sale.
It's a low-spec turn-based RPG with a serious cult following. Basically little to no tutorial, but a massive amount of content and seriously deep mechanics - to the extent that you can take a slice of bread from a bag, slather peanut butter on it with a spoon, hold the bread in your left hand and fling it at a dog's hind leg.
Interesting. Kinda sounds like Dwarf Fortress, I saw it highly recommended, but only ended up playing an hour or so as I couldn't figure out what to do. I got it in a bundle, so I couldn't refund it.
Similar in the sense that it has a cult following, has no tutorial, and deep mechanics.
this is the problem when you're looting at the soup store.
