#

Hello lads, its been a minute since I have stopped by to indulge in a bit o' story telling. This run was started right after I lost a very promising save due to, well... We won't get into that. (my truck died in the middle of a horde) This post will serve as a way to document my journey, mostly because I like to look back on em every once and a while once its all said and done. So, if reading about a survivors trial by fire in the form of zombie hell sounds interesting to you, I'm glad to have you along.

#

The first couple of days of this run are probably going to be bog standard. Just sitting around watching LAL.

#

Luckilly for us, there were a couple decent weapons lying around in the storage shed. Carpenter Axe and a Hatchet.

#

They will do for now, but I would prefer to find something else to preserve the life of the axes.

#

We have a couple days worth of food in the house, so we can laze about for a couple of days.

#

Had to take some pills before bed tonight. This lad cut his hands chopping wood a couple days prior, some nasty lacerations.

#

Pain is too much to sleep naturally.

#

Dont know exactly where we spawned. We're somewhere near Riverside I believe, based on the positioning on the map.

#

These lads were probably my neighbors. Poor lads.

#

Oh, I know where we are now. We're at one of the farmhouses to the left of Riverside.

#

Me and a couple lads came down this way about a year ago to do some shooting.

#

"Shooting."

#

One of my first major bases was up to the right actually.

#

Don't plan on staying here long most likely, but its nice to be down here again.

next monolith
#

I have a couple big base plans for this run if we manage to make it far enough. A couple of months ago I had a run I posted that involved a compound in some woods along the riverbank. I plan to go there again.

#

This police trooper had my favorite hat in the game on em.

#

Might as well for now until I find better protection.

#

Well, one of my favorites.

#

This car had an L lug wrench. I'll use it for now instead of the axes.

#

Stopped at this house for the night.

#

Wanted to catch 6PM LAL anyway.

#

Found a crowbar in this house. Looks like my wish of preserving the axe is coming true.

#

Plus, I can open locked doors now.

#

'bout as good as thats gonna get.

#

Oh, forgot to mention.

#

This lads name is Quinn Whitaker.

#

Looks like somebody was thirsty.

#

...

#

I'll see myself out now.

#

Made it to Riverside, though.

#

Don't plan on staying here longer than I have to.

#

I'll get a rig together (hopefully), get some supplies, and get out.

#

Last time I got too cozy in a town, things did exactly go my way...

#

This Buick is in pretty good condition. Sexy car this one.

#

I'll have to come back for it, doesnt have a key.

#

This lil' bugger has a key.

#

But, uh...

#

Don't think its going anywhere.

#

Thought this sedan would be nice. Even has a key.

#

Nope, 5% engine.

#

Looks like we're goin' without a car for now.

#

The good news is the glove boxes of the cars in the lot gave me most of the maps.

#

Not that I am ever going to louisville...

#

For a long while, at least.

#

The base location I have in mind is to the left of west point, about a 4th of the way towards riverside.

#

Far enough away from west point to avoid the hordes, but close enough to riverside and some other smaller towns that I wont have to go into West Point for a while.

#

... Hopefully.

#

This house I am staying in was the first house me and my friends based in in multiplayer.

#

Good memories.

#

Found a zombie with some decent tac gear.

#

Made it to the bar across the way.

#

Theres a pretty nice looking Challenger in the parking lot.

#

Lets hope it has a key.

#

Ah, thats a Camaro, not a Challenger.

#

Bingo.

#

Decent condition, too.,

#

Whenever I get a car like this, I always think that in a way, I am continuing its legacy.

#

I hate seeing these things rot in a parking lot.

#

Thinking about living out of this for now actually.

#

The leather seats are more comfortable than one might think.

#

Made up my mind.

#

Packed everything up that I had on me, put it into the car.

#

I have a tent and a campfire in there, so if needed I can always set those up.

#

Now, I know what you are thinking.

#

"Captain Craigslist, isnt this a CARPENTER run? Not a NOMAD run?"

#

Well yes, however I dont really have the things to build a base with at a moment. The base I want, at least.

#

So for now, we're huffin' it in the car.

#

Theres a good spot for the night

#

The plan for today is to try and make it to the gas station on the outskirts of riverside.

#

Theres a couple of parking lots there that might have a trailer or two, maybe even a truck.

#

What should we name the car by the way?

#

I'm thinkin' July. Its the starting month after all, and this is the first car we found.

#

Trying to not alert groups of zombies in a V8 muscle car is quite the task.

#

Managed to get this far without much trouble though.

#

Alright.

#

Got the gas station cleared out.

#

Lets fuel this hungry beast, shall we?

#

Found a Hazmat Zed in a group of zombies. Pretty nice pack on em.

#

Looks like this one was up near Muldraugh at some point.

#

Figured I might as well set up a TV in the gas station.

#

From looking around briefly, the parking lots seem to be devoid of anything interesting.

#

I haven't looked into them completely though, so maybe there are some fun vehicles in the corners.

next monolith
#

I believe its time we discuss where the main base will go.

#

See that sand bank there?

#

We're going to have a compound built inbetween the road and that sand bank, with some out buildings here and there.

#

I was thinking a junkyard on the opposite end, but we'll figure that out when we get there.

#

I definitely want a garage of sorts though, for workin' on cars.

#

I have wanted to get a proper one set up ever since I started zomboid, I have just always died before getting to that point.

#

We'll get there though. Mark my words.

next monolith
#

That house was alarmed.

#

Tried to go into it to get some sheets for the gas station, and was greeted with the piercing sound of a zombie dinner bell.

#

quite possibly the most sketchy place I have ever had to sleep, considering the alarm.

#

At least I'll get an early warning to an attack.

#

Well.

#

It turns out I was not in fact safe

#

Not dead... yet

#

Running around trying to find a quiet place to sleep in my car tonight

#

After running around in the dark for 4 hours and banging up the car, I finally found a place to sleep in the form of an abandoned car lot.

#

Gotta make my way back to the gas station now.

#

Decided to cut my losses.

#

The amount of hordes that migrated to the gas station made the things I had left there useless.

#

It was only a tent and a tv anyway.

#

The school parking lot was quiet, so I am parking up here for now.

#

Its a stones throw from the Hardware store, so we'll stay in the area and slowly make our way there.

#

Nothing like a good school lunch to cheer you up.

#

Theres a barricaded house right across the street.

#

I'm passing it on my way to the hardware store anyway, might as well check it out.

#

On my way back I am greeted with a horde who decided to route to my car through the school for seemingly no reason.

#

Excellent.

#

Needed to test my new weapons anyway.

#

This scrap weapon is pretty damn good. I'll have to invest some time into learning how to make some o' these when my base is up.

#

This bus is in great condition, and it has a key. No gas though.

#

Just might take it if nothing else shows up. All the seats inside give it great storage space, albeit a bit tedious to work with.

#

Heli is comin' any day now, so I am barricadin' myself in a classroom upstairs.

#

Plenty of books in here to keep me entertained in the meantime.

#

Well lads, Helicopter is on the way. Went to the car to grab some books and saw the dreaded "Air Activity Detected."

#

Time to do some readin'.

#

I hear it overhead.

#

I say this every time, but the helicopter is so bittersweet to me.

#

Besides the odd gunshot or the screams of those being taken by the dead, its the last true human interaction you experience in this game.

#

Even though it causes so much pain and grief, I feel a bit sad every time I hear it fade into the distance.

#

It's rainin' the morning after.

#

I personally love the rain. Has a calming nature 'bout it.

#

Probably going to stay in this classroom today, finish up my reading.

#

Damage outside isnt too bad, just a couple of medium sized groups here and there littering the parking lot.

#

Time to make our way towards the hardware shop, see what we can grab in the way of base building materials.

#

Made my way over there, but didnt have enough food on me to sleep the night in the laundromat then deal with the hordes the next morning.

#

I'll have to come back tomorrow when I am better prepared.

next monolith
#

Made it over to the hardware store.

#

Got a yield of 5 boxes of nails and a couple boxes of screws, as well as some additional tools.

#

Not enough for the base I want to build, but a good start.

#

7*, missed a row.

#

Couple trailers and a Firetruck.

#

Whichever one has more storage will be the winner.

#

The trailers, I mean.

#

310 for the U-Storeit

#

Really shouldn't have bothered with this one after checking the enclosed.

#

This one only has 140.

#

Seems we have a winner, folks.

next monolith
#

Good mornin' lads, how are we doin'.

#

Today is the day we get out of Riverside and get to our base location.

#

... Hopefully.

#

I need to make my way towards the gated community to look through the garages there, as I still need to hit my 10-15 boxes of nails quota.

#

However, first things first,

#

I need to get this trailer hooked up to the Camaro.

#

Seems some of the locals dont like this plan.

#

Broke the damn windshield on a tree trying to get it over here.

#

I dont have nearly enough mechanics to repair it either.

#

Guess we're rocking without one for now.

#

There are a lot of wedges of cheese in these fridges.

#

I like to grab em because A: they last a while, and B: you can make Pizzas out of em.

#

I'll throw em into a freezer for now so they can be a bit more preserved. I'll grab em on the way out.

#

Now thats nice.

#

Just realized somethin'. I actually cant leave until I get Carpentry 7. Need it for stairs.

#

And other things.

#

Looks like we'll be doin' some dismantling before we head out.

#

Really cant wait to have my own bed.

#

Sucks sleepin' in these random rooms on a chair like that, but hey. At least I can sleep.

#

What a lovely sight to wake up to.

#

This utility truck has a key.

#

Seems like it would be a good "Around the base" truck.

#

Ferry things to and fro.

#

Dash is still wet from last night.

#

I'll need to put a tarp over this when storing it. Lord knows these GM interiors love to crack.

#

We made it.

#

I still need a generator, so lets hope one of these garages has one for me.

#

Bingo.

#

Even if an alarm sounds, we still have the main thing we came here for.

#

Still, lets hope that doesnt happen.

#

We may want to consider a stop to the fire station on the way out as well.

#

We're very short on axes.

#

Not too much in the way of nails in these garages so far though.

#

Found another genny too.

#

I'll take it as well, we'll need one for a gas station.

#

Lookie this lil' bugger.

#

I haven't gotten one o' these before.

#

Never realized PawsTV stays on longer than the news channels.

#

Found myself a nicer leather jacket than the one I was using.

#

Other one went down to my knees.

#

Now all I need is a good pair of matching pants and I'll look the part.

#

That, and a black military poncho.

#

Am I the only one who doesnt like to litter, even though its an apocalypse?

#

Maybe its just habit.

#

Y'know, I've been thinkin.

#

I have everything I need besides nails, and a BBQ grill. But I can just get the grill from the backyards here.

#

I'm going to head to the factory outside of riverside. The warehouse and the factory itself should have all the nails I could ever need.

#

Alright, got the BBQ.

#

Lets get out of here, shall we?

#

Right after I grab something to sleep on.

#

We're here.

#

Lets hope this place isnt too hoarded.

#

Didn't get my usual luck either. Not alarmed.

#

If we're lucky, we'll get an antique stove too.

#

Theres lots of paint here too. I wont be taking everything, as I need space for other things in here, but I'll definitely be coming back for it.

#

We've more than doubled our nail count though, so we'll be set to start building.

#

Now thats a happy number.

#

Pulled the car in.

#

There is a parking lot at the other end of this place that usually has some pretty good vehicles in it.

#

I'll check it out later.

next monolith
#

Bit late to mention this, but on the way out of riverside I saw an armored bank truck.

#

Snapped a picture of it as I was drivin' by.

#

no idea of the condition its in, as it was surrounded by bout 100 zombies.

#

We'll have to stop by another time, check it out.

#

I have a strange lust for the blood of the undead.

#

CRANK UP THE MUSIC BOYS, WE'RE GOING ZOMBIE HUNTING!

#

Much better.

#

Theres about 30 more corpses behind the buildin', but we wont get into that.

#

Alright, I need to turn off the Pulp Friction before I end up killing the run.

#

Very good song by the way, do reccomend it.

#

What I really need to find is a tow truck, so I can come collect all these cool cars.

#

Alrighty.

#

Lets finish up looting this place, then get back to riverside to grab the last of everything.

#

The grand total.

#

Not a bad haul if I dont say so myself.

#

I'm going to sleep the night here so I dont tire myself out attempting to clear a spot for the car again.

#

Got a diecast taxi.

#

Alright lads, lets get on the road.

#

To the Riverside Gigamart!

#

Alright lads, we're all loaded up.

#

Lets get to home.

#

the C L U M P .

#

just about sideswipped those mfs tryin' to avoid em.

#

Well lads, we're here.

#

Theres even a campsite here.

#

Good thing too, I left my tent in Riverside in that damned gas station.

#

Blasted the horn for bout 20 minutes.

#

Seems like we're alone.

#

We're all set up lads.

#

Just the bare essentials for now, but this place will grow into something far greater than that.

#

Here's the fresh food haul.

#

Even got a Ford GT as a reward.

#

I cannot wait for the day I find one of these in the wild.

#

It will get the cleanest, most well lit corner of the garage.

#

Alongside July, of course.

#

(the car)

#

Nothin' like fire cooked food.

#

Todays meal is a mix of Beans, Split Peas, Beef Jerky, and some Canned Veggies.

#

It'll last me for a good couple of days if I preserve it well.

#

Thats the hope, at least.

#

Ah, damn.

#

Won't have a shelter set up in time for that.

#

I'll have to throw together a makeshift carport for me and the car.

#

Right after I...

#

Level up my carpentry...

#

Totally didnt forget to do that while in town.

next monolith
#

Carpentry 6 acquired.

#

Workin' on that little carport now.

#

I'll still be out in the open, but at least I'll have a roof over my head.

#

Just in time too. Nasty storm just rolled in.

#

I might add a little cabin onto the back of this eventually.

#

Seems like a good day to sit down and read.

#

Storm is gettin' real bad now.

#

Really glad I got this up.

#

Still raining today.

#

Carpentry 7 lads. Time to do some real buildin'.

#

Found some EnBloc clips for a Garand.

#

It'll be useful for when I actually, y'know.

#

Find a Garand.

#

Oh, hey.

#

Survivor house.

#

I'll have to come back for this one, I'm brim full of stuff.

#

I believe thats all from me for tonight lads, rather tired.

#

I'll catch you all next time I post.

#

Cheers.

next monolith
#

Good evenin' lads, how are we doin' today.

#

I have some big plans for today base wise. Thinkin' about gettin' everything layed out so I can start on the framework for the main house.

#

I'd like the house itself to be tucked in the woods, with a little clearing so you can see the river from the upstairs balcony.

#

A sitting room / reading room with a nice view of the river sounds nice, eh?

#

Can't wait to get some proper silverware together so I dont have to eat straight outta the pot.

#

Todays meal is a bit of the same as last time, but with more canned veggies instead of bagged beans / peas.

#

Used the last of the Jerky, too.

#

I think I might go with a similar layout to the one I had in this spot, actually.

#

Probably not the same house design, but a similar entrance / overall plot layout.

#

Got a good chunk of land cleared.

#

I'll finish the rest tomorrow, then head out and get some sheet ropes for all these logs.

#

Ah, damn.

#

Got a hole in my nice leather jacket.

#

Better it than me, I guess.

#

I need to stop making stupid mistakes. Missed a shove on a zombie.

#

26 Sheet Rope should be enough though.

#

Plank-o-matic 3000

#

This should give me a good start on the framework.

#

Theres the first floor exterior walls done.

#

Time to figure out the interior now.

#

I definitely want a mud room, so I dont track the wilderness into the house.

#

Alright, theres the downstairs.

#

Mudroom, Side Storage Area, Big Game Room with a connected Kitchen / Bar, Laundry Room, and a room that I havent decided what to do with yet.

#

I was thinking an Armory, but it seems a bit too small to fit everything I would need.

#

Mentioning this back room here.

#

Might be good for a small workshop area.

#

I want to have a carport on the side there, so maybe I can add a doorway into there.

Hello again, good news lads. I've gotten a setup working for my computer, so I can start playing PZ again soon. (Hopefully). The run is not dead! Expect posts relatively soon 🙂

Guess who's back for seconds?

#

Thats right, its the guy with the lowest quality screen to ever exist.

#

Still working on getting my computer situation fixed screen wise, so for now I am just streaming my screen to a TV I have lying around.

#

It does work well enough though, so I can start playing PZ occasionally now and then.

#

... At the expense of my eyes.

#

Seriously from where I am sitting it looks like static half the time-...

#

BUT HEY, not important.

#

Lets get back to where we left off, shall we?

next monolith
next monolith
#

Alright, where were we...

#

Ah, yes.

#

The house.

#

From memory I still have a decent stockpile of food stashed away, so I can put my effort towards the house for now.

#

The genny still has a little under half a month of fuel too.

#

I believe I have a bit of fuel lying around somewhere in case it runs out.

#

If not, the camaro has a full tank.

#

Yall probably cant tell, but on my end it looks like I am watching a VHS Horror version of PZ.

#

Seriously looks like a camcorder lol

#

Alright, first things first. Lets make some food for the day, eh?

#

Todays Stew is mostly vegetable, with a can of corned beef thrown in for some meat.

#

As well as butter and a few other spices for flavoring.

#

Wish I had some garlic powder, that goes well with everything.

#

Maybe not this specific meal, but.. Wouldn't hurt, eh?

#

At least the calories are decent.

#

Once this stew is done cookin', I'm going to start laying out the upstairs of the house. Plus, it will get a "roof" over the first floor.

#

Time for everybodies favorite part of building a house.

#

Gathering all the logs.

#

Gotta love gathering the logs.

#

That should be enough planks for now.

#

Trying to figure out what I want upstairs.

#

Definitely my bedroom. I feel much safer sleeping upstairs than downstairs.

#

But what else..

#

Workshop is going downstairs, so is the kitchen, and the living room.

#

Oo, now thats an idea.

#

What if we put the bedroom partially over the living room, with a little balcony overlooking the downstairs?

#

That would be cool.

#

Oh, but that would leave the area above the kitchen unaccessable...

#

I would have to make the upstairs hallway wrap around both sides, and I dont know if I want to do that.

#

What if we just have a simple central hallway, with rooms that branch out on either side.

#

Effective, straight to the point, and will leave lots of space in the rooms.

#

Lets do that.

#

Somethin' like this.

#

I'm thinkin' about having a library / tv room above the workshop area. Would be nice to read a book with a view of the Ohio River.

#

Have the master bedroom to the left above the living room.

#

Maybe a room for Tailoring above the front entrance / mudroom.

#

Oh, idea.

#

What if, at the very end of the hall, we have a small corridor that connects both the master bedroom and the armory.

#

That way in case of an assault, we dont have to enter the main hallway to access our weaponry.

#

Oh yeah, armory is most likely going in the top corner above the kitchen.

#

Yeah, I think this would make a great tailoring room.

#

Dont need too much space for that, anyway.

#

Oh hey, look at that.

#

Our first "indoors" area.

#

Pretty weary about heading into West Point.

#

Nothin' but bad memories of previous runs there.

#

Plus, with population nearing its peak, its gonna be hell to get anywhere close to anything useful.

#

Especially with me being more rusty than the Titanic.

#

I'll have to eventually though. Food isnt infinite.

#

Might move in here once I get the doors in.

#

It'll be much warmer than the carport I've been sleeping under for the past week.

#

What about a balcony right in front here?

#

I can have a door to it from the bedroom.

#

Decided not to go with the hidden hallway to the armory idea. I want a bit of space for a bathroom upstairs.

#

Going to put it right here.

#

This bathroom actually got me thinking. I need an area upstairs to put rain collectors in so I can plumb water to some dryers / washers I want to put downstairs.

#

Might have a room in the armory for a sink in the kitchen too.

#

Good thing I thought of that before I built something over it.

#

Put up a railing around the staircase.

#

Not like theres no walls to the right to prevent you from falling..

next monolith
#

Anyhow,

#

Heres the upstairs progress for today.

#

I'll need to make some more food tomorrow, ran out of the veggie / corned beef stew I made 2 days prior.

#

Eh screw it, we'll make it tonight.

#

I have time.

#

Tonights Stew is a bit of the same, but with a bit more meat than the previous.

#

Threw in a can of Tuna.

#

Also put in a few more high calorie spices to maintain my weight.

#

I am thinking about going to that survivor house we found at the mansions off the Ohio River.

#

Might have some good food there so I can stockpile a bit more.

#

First I'll have to empty out my trunk though.

#

Its been full to the brim ever since I left the factory.

#

Theres quite a lot of food in the trunk of the Camaro.

#

I've been taking stuff out of the trailer, so I didnt even know this was here until just now.

#

I'll still head to the survivor house tomorrow, as I'd like to get out of the "house" for a bit.

#

Alrighty, I've gotten everything put away. Lets head out to that survivor house.

#

Here we are.

#

I'm not expecting too many in there, but you never know.

#

So far just one.

#

I hear someone bangin' on a door upstairs, actually.

#

Holy mother of weapons.

#

This is just the garage too, havent checked the other containers in the house.

#

Shapin' up to be real good, lads.

#

..

#

I have found a Microwave on a Stick.

#

This is both the coolest and stupidest thing I have ever found.

#

I love it.

#

Makes me look like an anime character walkin' around with it.

#

Lots of other good weapons where I found it, too.

#

Found another sledgehammer in the kitchen.

#

Alongside, what.. My 5th machete?

#

Some good food here too.

#

Well lads. This is what we in the business call "A Massive Success."

#

One of the first zombies I have seen out here.

#

Even up at the mansions it was relatively quiet.

#

Lets hope it stays this way.

#

__

#

Home sweet home.

#

I really need to find a new windshield for July.

#

July is the Camaro, for anyone uninformed.

#

I'm going to spend the rest of the day gathering up some logs so I dont have to do as much work tomorrow.

#

Got a few fresh items at that house, too.

#

Not much, but its always nice to have fresh items.

#

Alrighty.

#

I have 140 planks sitting upstairs to work on the upper floor.

#

Unfortunately, my body is shutting down due to a severe lack of sleep.

#

So that will be tomorrows job.

#

Very foggy this morning.

#

I just heard a very faint boom noise echo across the land.

#

Powers out, lads. The Age of Darkness is upon us.

#

I always hate it when the power goes out. It makes you realize that no help is coming.

#

Its just you and the undead, left to wander aimlessly through forgotten streets and lonely countrysides.

#

And its your job to ensure that humanity lives on in some way.

#

Despite how futile it ends up being in most cases.

#

But hey. Lets not let ourselves get consumed by dread. We have a house to build!

#

I feel like this bathroom should have an entrance in the hallway and the bedroom.

#

Its really startin' to come along now.

#

Sitting here looking at it, I think a full wrap around balcony would be cool.

#

Maybe have it extend over the carport area I am going to build by the downstairs workshop.

#

Have a bunch of outdoor sitting areas with an antique stove in the middle for warmth.

#

We've almost gotten it to the point where we can start movin' in.

#

Just need a roof over the second floor, and I would consider that done enough to move everything over.

#

Thats the sketchy part though.

#

One wrong move and WHOOP, there goes your leg for 2 months.

#

Like I said.

#

REAL sketchy.

#

Breaking a leg in this part of the run would be very bad. I only have enough stockpiled for a month, maybe a bit longer if I ration.

#

I doubt a broken leg would be healed enough to even walk semi-normally by then.

#

Time for another stew.

#

Probably will be the same as usual.

#

Veggies, bit of meat, calories.

#

Alrighty.

#

Today is roof day.

#

Got a little more than half done.

#

Covered the hallway as well as the bedroom, so I can start to move into here.

#

I'm going to spend the rest of the day moving everything over, as well as getting more logs to minimize my time on the roof.

#

Seriously, I hate doing roofs.

#

Got the Genny and the food over without unfreezing anything.

#

The most important items in this freezer are the 8 slices of cheese.

#

I always like to make pizzas as celebratory items for doing something hard / challenging in runs.

#

Its been a tradition in my friend group for quite a while, and I intend to keep doing it.

#

July gets to have the carport all to herself now.

#

I do want to move the Camaro closer to the house once I can though. Having it this far away makes me sad.

#

If you couldn't tell, the lack of social interaction in this world is making me care a lot for my vehicles.

#

Had to build a temporary catwalk to build the walls on this side.

#

For some strange reason PZ dislikes it when you try to build walls on the second story facing this direction.

#

Startin' to feel like home now.

#

If you ignore the missing walls, windows, doors, and furniture of course.

#

I really need to start fishing.

#

I didnt get enough frozen meat while the power was on, so the bulk of my calorie intake is going to be from fishing.

#

That and canned food, but you get my point.

#

Alright, thats the roof done.

#

Those holes you see in the roof are for rain collectors for the first floor.

#

The 2 long one is for the washer / dryer, and the small one is for the kitchen sink.

#

I am not fully done with the roof yet, as I want to have a proper one put in.

#

That, however, takes a LOT of nails and planks. It will be done at a later date.

#

Not like I dont have the nails.. I just dont feel like risking my leg at the moment.

#

I keep hearing zombies. I don't think I am going to feel truly safe until I have the doors and windows in.

#

I dont think any are out here with me, but these forests can hide quite a lot.

#

Most of the upstairs is walled in and sealed now. The library being the only exception.

next monolith
#

I have the rain collectors for the kitchen sink and washing machines done.

#

Its raining too, so I can prefill them.

next monolith
#

I despirately need some lamps. Its so dark in here at night.

#

I have used up all the logs I got from clearing the area for the house, so its time to chop s'more.

#

Needing more logs got me thinking about something.

#

I was originally going to have the junkyard across the way from the house, but why not put it to the left of it?

#

I am putting the garage over here anyway, would be much more efficient compared to walking across the street.

#

Heres my thought process.

#

Warehouse roughly where I am standing, with an adjoined mechanic shop to the left of it.

#

Junkyard will be closer to the road to the left.

#

I want to be able to pull big rigs back here so they can unload after runs, so that will be a requirement.

#

I am not sure where I want the garage to store all the good condition cars yet.

#

Maybe off to the right of the house somewhere?

#

Speaking of rigs, I do want a proper one eventually.

#

Big truck with armor and accessories with a trailer in tow.

#

We'll get there eventually. Thats something to worry about once we have the compound fully set up.

#

After all, we have all the time in the world.

#

I think thats all from me for tonight lads. I do plan on posting about the run more now, just not as often as I used to. Project Zomboid tends to put a bit of strain on this pc, especially so with the mods I have, and I dont want to burn it out before I get a new one. I appreciate all who have read this far and those who have commented about the run. I enjoy hearing from people about the stories I write. Farewell for now lads, have a good night.

# south fox Also you might want a fence around your base.

I have been considering this. I had one around the other wilderness base I did a while back, but it was simple and didnt have much functionality besides just being a barrier. If I do make one for this place, I'll put a lot more work into it.

#

I might do a bit more work "off camera" tonight

#

Mostly clearing trees, finishing touches, all that jazz.

#

If I do end up doing anything substantial with the house, I'll post it here.

#

Hello Gang, welcome to tonight's Late Night Building Compilation, or LNBC. (why does that sound like a news network lol.), where I talk less and post more images regarding the base.

#

I am going to do these when its a bit too late to ping this channel constantly, but I want to do some stuff around the compound.

#

More forest clearing, mostly to get logs for the house.

#

Downstairs is mostly done, spare the right side of the house. Added a small pantry inbetween the kitchen and the rear mudroom.

next monolith
#

Downstairs is fully walled in and laid out. All it needs is doors and windows. And furniture.

#

#

Thats all for the Late Night Building Compilation. Goodnight yall, see you next time I post.

#

Hello gang, I return with another session of carpentry. Last night we got quite a lot done on the house, and I plan to go over that in more explicit detail today.

#

Today I am thinkin' we finish the upstairs.

#

Yesterday we finished the downstairs layout wise, but the upstairs still needs a lot of work.

#

Plus, we need windows for this place. The nearby group of mansions we went to recently should aid in that endeavor.

#

The only real issue currently is the fact that the trailer is full to the brim with supplies, most of which being from the factory we stopped at before coming here. I'll need to build some storage to get everything out before we go window shopping.

#

Got the trailer down to a little under half weight. Should be able to make a good start on the windows now.

#

That was almost very nasty.

#

Spun out going to fast around that corner and got fishtailed around by the trailer.

#

Missed the trees ahead of me by a couple feet after slamming the brake pedal into the engine bay.

#

Gotta stop driving so fast, its going to get me killed eventually.

#

Oh hey, we just ticked past 1 month on the save.

#

Figured I could grab a bath and a toilet while I am getting windows.

#

A couple sinks wouldn't hurt as well.

#

Just remembered I need a washer / dryer too.

#

Wouldn't hurt to get those set up a bit early, I suppose.

#

Ah.

#

Seems I need Electrical 3 to get these.

#

We'll come back for those another time then.

#

We have a grand total of 11 windows.

#

It wont be enough to finish the house, but it will be a very good start towards that.

#

Oh.

#

Thats uh.

#

Great, just great.

#

I KNEW I was hearing zombie noises.

#

I am not going to kill this lad inside the house, dont want stains everywhere.

#

_

#

Out of all the things I grabbed, I didnt think to grab a bucket for the plaster.

#

We're gettin' there folks. One aspect at a time.

#

That zombie has me on edge though.. I'm going to honk the horn a few times in the morning, see if I cant lure anyone else hiding in the forest.

#

Nothing came. Must have been a one off.

#

Not letting my guard down though.

#

Anyway,

#

Theres a small farm with a garage up the road. I'm going to head there to look around for a bucket.

#

Jeez, I've lost my nerve. I'm getting spooked by the littlest of things.

#

No luck with a bucket at the garage.

#

Might as well check the nearby houses.

#

Glad I did, found this perfect condition .30-06 rifle.

#

No ammo but hey, at least I have it for when I do.

#

Oh, I lied. Magazine had a bit in it.

next monolith
#

Alright, so.
We need to fix the gasoline problem.

#

We have enough for now, but that wont last for very much longer.

#

Theres a gas station inbetween Muldraugh and West Point, I'm thinking we go there. The ones in WP would be closer, however I dont really feel like clearing out the area considering population is nearing its max.

#

Plus, theres a used car lot nearby. If we get lucky, we can find a suitable workhorse so I dont keep beating up the Camaro.

#

Car is all cleared out, now to pack.

#

I'll be taking some camping supplies with me in case I get there a bit late.

#

Couple days worth of food and water as well.

#

Alright, lets get on the road.

#

Very foggy this morning. Can barely see 5 feet in front of the car.

#

If this keeps up, we most likely wont make it to the gas station until mid afternoon.

#

Decided to stop to check out that shed.

#

I still need a bucket, maybe I'll get lucky.

#

No bucket. Did get a couple bits and scraps though.

#

This is some seriously awful fog.

#

I really shouldn't be driving in it, but I am hoping it clears by the time I get to the gas station.

#

That is not a pleasant sight to see lunging out at you from the fog.

#

AEBS didn't help with trying to figure out when the fog is going to cease.

#

Just gave me info about the wind and the temperature.

#

Ah, there we go.

#

Parked up for a bit to wait for the fog to subside, and its startin' to fade away now.

#

I can actually see the road I am driving on, what a privilege.

#

We've arrived.

#

Looks quiet for now, only a few wandering about.

#

Quite a few in the parking lot adjacent to the Gas Station. I counted roughly 20 from a quick glance.

#

Alright, we're all filled up.

#

I have 5 full gas cans in the trunk as well, so we'll be set for a while.

#

We are going to be sleeping somewhere nearby though. I got here rather late in the afternoon.

#

Found a couple more gas cans in the station, bringing our total up to 8.

#

This stationwagon is the only interesting thing I have found so far.

#

It has a key, but the engine is at 33%.

#

If I dont end up finding anything else, I'll tow it back.

#

Still haven't checked the Spiffos lot yet.

#

Doesn't seem to be much here either...

#

Bad luck, I guess.

#

Best make camp for the night, its gettin' dark.

#

Decided to check out this Crown Vic in the clothes store lot.

#

Didnt have a key at first, but I happened upon it in the parking lot.

#

Its in much better condition compared to the squire. Technically not as much space because of the missing roof rack, but I'll take engine reliability over a bit more space any day of the week.

#

Lets see if the Clothes Store has anything interesting, eh?

#

Couple o' spare sets of denim shirts, jeans, and about 5 pairs of good quality boots.

#

Not too shabby.

#

Evenin' lads, how are we doin'.

#

We have a storage situation around the base, and I didn't plan the house to have much storage space besides a pantry. Lets fix that, shall we?

#

I want a warehouse that allows a trailer to be pulled into it so one can unload from the safety of the building.

#

I may add an extended area for bigger vehicles to pull in, but then again we can always just pull half the truck in to unload.

#

Every once and a while I see movement in the trees.

#

I don't know if its a zombie, the wind, a passing deer, my mind playing tricks...

#

Even this far out in the wilderness, you never truly feel alone.

next monolith
#

Sometimes I wonder if anyone else is sitting alone by a light out there.

#

A strange thought, but.

#

Just something that came to mind.

The lamp in my room went out.

Wonder if theres a hidden meaning behind that.

#

Heres the framework for the Mechanics Garage / Storehouse.

#

The right side will be the storehouse, with the left side extended a bit outwards will be the mechanic garage.

#

I'm going to finish the storehouse side first, and most likely leave the mechanics end partially unfinished for now.

#

Despite having around 11 boxes of nails left, that flies by very fast when you are building a lot of things. I do not feel like going into West Point to get more just yet.

#

I am just going to add normal wood flooring to the warehouse, it doesn't need to be pretty.

I do have a couple of other buildings I want to add alongside the house, one of which is the garage / storage building shown a bit above. Besides that, I do want to make a couple of other bases scattered around here and there to act as safehouses.

#

I also do want to start a car collection, as it is one of my favorite things to do in a game like this. I view it as saving them from the apocalypse for as long as I can. A part of me dies a little inside when I see a muscle car rotting in the corner of a parking lot.

#

Hello again lads, back with another set of posts.
Today, I mostly want to get some more work done on the storage building and the house.

#

I am definitely not going to be able to finish the storage section anytime soon, as I need high levels of metalworking to make garage doors for it. A wooden one will do for now I suppose.

#

I also want to start and hopefully finish the kitchen, bar the stove. It would be nice to have a dedicated area to cook meals.

#

_

#

I just heard a scream of a woman nearby. Sounded rather close.

#

Don't know if searching for the source would do any good though.

#

_

#

Finished the roof for the storage building.

#

I am going to fall a bit short on planks to finish the downstairs flooring though, I'll need to chop down some more.

#

Should have just enough actually.

#

Alright, thats this section done.

#

I'm not going to touch the mechanic side for a while, I need to focus on finishing the house and this storage area first.

#

Ah, good news lads.

#

In an unexpected turn of events, my friend group has decided to play zomboid with me. So I'm off to do that.

May post later today, but who knows.

Why thank you! We did in our own special way I suppose. Each run we tried to do ended up in Louisville, and when you have 3 lads running around with pipes frantically trying to find a car with a horde chasing you, well...

#

I suppose you can figure out what happened. lol

#

They are fun lads to play with though, I enjoy their company.

#

Anyhow,

#

L i q u i d .

#

Finally, storage.

#

I'll be adding much more than this, of course.

#

The trailer is more than capable of fitting in here as well. Might even have room to store another one in here if needed.

#

I'll leave it in here for now and unload it.

#

Just remembered I need a bucket before I start building the kitchen.

#

I need to paint the walls before I place the counters and such, otherwise I wont be able to access them later.

#

There is a factory on the other side of West Point. From memory, its not too hard to clear.

#

Then again, the last run I had similar to this ended right next to it in an attempt to clear out a gas station.

#

I'll take things much more carefully this time around. I'll pack light, and move quickly.

#

If theres not a bucket there, I dont know where else one would be.

#

Alrighty, the trailer is cleared out for the most part.

#

Time to make some food for the trip tomorrow, as well as prepare some weapons.

#

A selection of blades, bats, and knives will do.

#

I am also bringing an axe in case things get a bit too nasty, as its the skill I have the most experience in.

#

Oh, almost forgot to bring a crowbar.

#

Alright, lets get going shall we?

#

_

#

Wasn't too bad on the way in.

#

I coasted the last bit to get here, so the hordes that were on the highway didnt follow me to far over here.

#

Alright, I'm off to go make dinner.

#

I might post a bit later, but who knows.

#

Also, dont worry about our lad. I logged em in a (relatively) safe spot. Theres zombies around em sure, but I dealt with the ones that were actively chasin' me.

#

Goodbye for now lads.

next monolith
#

Hello again lads, I'm back for a bit.

#

There are a couple nice looking vehicles in the gas station. I might as well check them out while I am in the area.

#

Might be a good idea to start setting up a safehouse down here as well, so I can loot West Point's main street. My base isnt that far away, but still. Would be nice.

#

Theres a bus here thats in decent enough condition.

#

Even has a key.

#

The Hilux isnt much better. Similar overall condition but the engine is a bit worse than the bus.

#

Doesn't have a key like the bus either.

#

I'll mark the bus for later, we'll come grab it another time.

#

I'm rather lucky those lads weren't closer when I pulled up.

#

That would not have been a fun time to clear.

#

Best start chipping away at them.

#

Not there yet, but the parking lot of the factory we're heading to looks like it has some decent vehicles as well.

#

We'll check those out when we get over there.

#

Really should have come to West Point earlier, every clump of zombies is almost always 15-20 strong.

#

That fire truck in the corner looks like a good battle truck.

#

If its good condition, I might nick it when I come back to grab the bus.

#

Doesn't have a key, but its overall condition is rather nice.

#

Alright, we have made it.

#

Found a bucket.

#

I got what I came for at least.

#

This place has a lot of good stuff though, definitely going to stick around.

#

I have an empty trailer, so why not right?

#

Theres even a couch in the break room I can use for the night.

#

Parked the trailer and the car inside so I can fill them up before I go to bed.

#

There are some good tins of paint here that I am definitely taking. Specifically White and Black.

next monolith
#

I might as well check out the Self Storage across the way while I am here.

#

Might find a generator or two.

#

Who knows, I might even find an M249. I did find one of those lying in a random self storage once..

#

_

#

There are a couple of mattresses here from memory.

#

If we can find which unit they are in, it wouldn't be a bad idea to take them so we can make a bed back at the house.

#

Now this is a trailer.

#

It has 100 more storage than the one we are currently hauling around. I'll definitely be swapping them out.

#

Had to nudge it around with the car to get it unstuck. It was SNUG against that fence there.

#

__

#

The old trailer has 310 storage, and this one has 490. A bit more than my 100 storage estimation, but hey, not complaining about more storage.

#

_

#

Alright, thats everything.

#

Theres another trailer over by that van there that I havent checked out.

#

I'll definitely be coming back for these two trailers. A man cant have too many trailers after all.

#

I'll do a quick look through of this storage unit, then I have to head home. Just ran out of the rations I brought for this trip.

#

First one I open has a genny inside.

#

Its the only thing in there too.

#

Found those matresses I was referencing earlier.

#

I'll grab these and the genny and get out of here.

#

I can always come back to loot this place later.

#

God I hate westpoint.

#

_

#

Home Sweet Home.

#

Now that we have a bucket, I can finally start painting the walls.

#

The windows are a different shade of black for some strange reason, but I think that looks pretty nice.

#

..

#

If its not one thing its the other.

#

I went to grab my pipe wrench so I could plump my sink, and guess what?

#

gone.

#

Straight up gone, no explanation.

#

I know I had one.. Maybe I am just being stupid and missing it.

#

Ah, it was upstairs on the floor.

#

_

#

Clean drinking water.

#

At last.

#

That doesn't look half bad.

#

I definitely want a stove in the future, but the wood grill will work for now.

This place is really startin' to come along now.
