SERVER BACKSTORY
In 2023, after about 400hrs of vanilla and modded solo zomboid, I decided to try out multiplayer PZ.

After looking around for a home server for a while, I finally settled on the Bang server. it was PvEvP with the North half was PvE and the South was PvP. It was a great server with a great community. It had a great map and several lore friendly mods that boosted immersion and gave players short, medium, and long term goals. It was one of if not THE best server out there, but there was always something missing. Eventually, the player base slowly dwindled and the Admin eventually shut the server down.

While playing on Bang, I joined RcG, the Raven Creek Goons, and we became fast friends. In the end, we decided to try and make our own server. It would be a server streamlined for PvP with a gritty feel to it. The new server saw some success and fulfilled some of the vision, but the admin began taking it in another direction, so we split up due to ideological differences. I took a break from PZ shortly after.

Until one day, I saw our faction leader @glossy ice online playing Project Zomboid. I checked out the server he was on, and was completely let down. It was the best PvP server he could find at the time, but it was terrible. It was laggy, it had clashing mod artstyles, and the server would constantly spawn zombies right on top of you. Was it a technical glitch or Admin abuse? We may never know, but we knew what had to be done.

If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself.

We created the Smoking Kills PvEvRP Server

Meant to be the true spiritual successor of the Bang Server, we have many of the same or similarly flavored mods. The map is also heavily inspired, seeing many returning favorites and a few new additions.
