#Would modern day humanity survive the Knox virus?
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
personally seeing as its airborne with an insanely high infection chance i think most of the world would become nearly entirely infected with the exception of extremely remote areas
Pretty much whatever timeframe it’s in everyone’s screwed
The airborne will kill everyone
personally, i'd be immune so it wouldnt really be a problem
i mean according to the lore isn't the airborne rate 1/1000 live? so i mean there's a good chance some people live but i think they would eventually die. also are people who are immune to the airborne strain still carriers of the virus? if so then people they are around would catch it which would cause alot more problems
i say it would take slightly longer but society is a bit more fragile than ever after the COVID pandemic
i mean it kinda depends on who is patient 0 if its someone traveling then it could be MUCH faster globally if its someone working in a busy kitchen then that town could be infected over night and it spreads very fast state/county wise. if its someone in a small town that works alone and dosent have much human contact it might not spread at all
!tap
I think this pretty much kills the discussion
ok well yea they would all decompose pretty quickly ect ect but come on were having fun
Booooo fun police boooooooooo
exactly booooooo
also not entirely true there are types of fungi that infect ants in a zombie like manner
Indeed...
But, something like zomboid could never possibly happen
Unless all of the people were infected by something else than zombies
completely agreed the ant fungus is very different then what we see in pz
I mean, nothing like zombie apocalypse could ever spread enough
Unless ^
well if its an airborne virus like pz
Zombies just can't, idk, eat through metal
Or jump a story high
Etc
And militaries have a ton of gear for that
yea true but depending on where and how it starts militaries may not be prepared
Fair enough
In less developed countries it would be challenging
yep
Also, zombies have to be kinda slow - and they would hardly kill any1, if they can be outwalked
But on the other hand, if they were fast af, they will eat their victims completely, means, the virus won't spread
yea but when there's about 1k zombies per human and your in a dense area they could definitely sneak up on you and trap you
How would the 1K zombies per human appear?
the airborne strain has about a 1/1000 ratio of infection
atleast thats what ive heard
And would they be able to climb a flat wall for example? If not, just get on a roof
Couldn't humanity just en masse produce gas masks and simple filters
yea you could easily do that but in terms of the general population it would crumble fast
depending on where how and when it starts it could be a matter of 3-4 days before most countries are partly or fully infected
After all, world is preparing for nuclear for a long time (which would be infinitely worse)
yea they could for sure but i think most places wouldnt get them in time
Less developed countries would have it difficult
But it would be nowhere close as devasting as zomboid or other worlds in zombie apocalypse media
i think it could give a great deal of trouble to big countries aswell but yea under developed countries wouldnt stand a chance
I mean, yeah
It would be an apocalypse for sure
But it would rather end up with many dead zombies than many dead humans (that too), but in the end, humans would practically win
But win at what cost...
we got the indomitable human spirit
Only thing which can kill us is us
thats pretty accurate
Sorry if I ruined the fun then, but logic kinda eliminates the possibility of Project Zomboid happening irl...
... But let's assume it would somehow happen and u would be last human on Earth - do u think u would survive and how?
fuck no i would die immediately
ok fr tho if i had to if they were pz zoids i would just walk away and use fire to kill em
Exactly lol
Why so?
Let's say it's mix of sprinters and zomboids
well i bet the zombie apocalypse would start at night or early morning which i would either be sleeping or with how messed up my sleep schedule is id be half asleep and not prepared for a zombie to break my window and attack me
i do have some weapons in my house so if i learned about it prior to it going down i might be able to live for atleast a bit
Okay, let's assume u r in zomboid - aka alive, fully awake, full energy, fed etc, inside your house
With no zomboids literally inside
i think i would be mostly fine for a bit i have a katana and im half decent at using it (thank you adhd lol) so i would probably be able to fend off at least a few until i either get over ran or need rest
i would definitely have some trouble with killing my neighbors but if i had to i would
Katana is great, but also infamously known for being hard to maintain and quickly "loses durability" (forgot the right term lol)
Well, family would be worse
yea i have a limited supply of oil plus all the blood would quickly erode through it so i would not be able to use it very long in a good condition
yea that would be even worse but id prefer not to think about that
I went through enough shit that at least that's something what wouldn't hunt me down, well, at least not immediately
my katana is also decent quality not one of those 50$ ones so it would keep an edge for a good bit of time but yea i would need a new weapon shortly
i also used to bike about 10 miles a day to and from school so i would be able to get around without a loud car
For me it kinda depends where I would be
I have a cottage, where is literally less than 10 people around
I have there a ton of tools, drinkable water source in my garden
Axes with which I am experienced
And more
If I was in my main home, aka city... I would be significantly more fucked

yea i live in a somewhat big city so im kinda ded
I honestly never drove a car cuz I believe in public transport... I mean, I don't think it's that hard, but it would be probably the skill I would miss the most in apocalypse
where i live there isnt much public transport so you have to drive/bike places
I forgot about bikes, lol
Generally, every zombie media forgets about bikes for some reason
fr i have no clue why they are a relatively fast and near silent way to get around
Probably because they r too OP lol
lol fr
in terms of zomboid if the outbreak were to happen the airborne would kill 99,9 of civilians, the wealthy and important people might be sent into safety but common people that aren't immune die, best case scenario North and South America are sent into lockdown and the airborne virus can't go through seas which "saves" the other continents. zombies will decompose and without any host the virus will die sooner or later and then people could try to rebuild america.
but as in would you and i survive, it's a no unless we are immune, we would be sent into lockdown as soon as the virus have effects.
That's the main thing when the virus has effects
Seeing as effects start after 72hrs (death then being a zoid) it really all depends on where and when it starts and with what host
well i'm pretty sure the speed/distance of the airborne transmission is'nt stated but given that the whole map gets infected instantly i will assume it"s fast enough to infect anyone on the same land.
My brain, reading the thread title, Oh, I see you met my father before he died.
Yea it isn't stated but the whole map isn't instantly infected the reports of the virus spread and do take time to spread out over the whole map
im pretty sure it also doesn't start airborne, and or if it does, was only hitting immunosuppressed people at first, from the news reports it seems to mutate like a week in or so. and even then some people seem to remain immune to the airborn, since iirc, there isn't a setting that can allow the player to get it without a scratch or bite, right?
the setting your talking about is a mod that makes you have to have masks and stuff and yea it wasnt airborne but it went airborne very fast and started spreading quickly not instantly
also originaly the reports were talking about bad air and how the air stank then they got infected
yeah, i was saying there ISN'T a setting that can make you sick without it, so clearly your character is always ( without mods) immune to airborne.
and yeah, it was likely corpses hidden in the brush and rooms and such making the stink, as the virus evolved.
oh i see i misread your message and yea thats most likely what happened
Personally, I watch and played the last of us already, im good 🤓
