please add this gore so that when I hit some stupid little zomboid while going 125 in a semi truck it not just ragdolls, but its parts go flying everywhere

probably not but would be fun to be hacking at a zed and having them fall apart

i think this is the most plausible and efficient way to add it
having a layered model with an alpha cutaway mask to reveal the inner layers means no modelling for stump or wound variation
all you would need is a fleshy inner texture, blood texture, and the skeleton model

i mean it could be done using vanilla techniques
you would need models for the dismembered body parts though
if i find the time i could probably make a more finished concept and ill send the blend file here if anyone wants to play around / do anything with it
I heard that with B41 should have been released AnimZed, that theoretically should help a lot with animation and models.
May be this will help. It have been confirmed for post 42 some time a go... Also if unfortunately Dev didn't answered anymore about this topic so... Who know ...

actually, even the models wouldnt need variants
you would just need a disconnected variant of each limb like the arm
then you can apply the opposite map to cut off the other part of the arm to get it to line up
so with 1 model you can get the severed hand, severed upper arm and severed lower arm
wip dynamic tearing
using a noise texture and various math nodes the edge of the severed bit now has little jagged edges
got it to where the clothes above the "stump" get torn up
alr, got blood and got it to remove the part
biggest issue is that the inside of the mesh is visible as shown above
easiest way to fix that would just to have the inside of the mesh be a fleshy material or something like that
oddly enough the skeleton model does nOT fit inside the character model lol
i deal with this by just hiding the rest of the skeleton and only showing parts i need to
anyways, basically this model is just made up of seperated limb parts
for full portions of the body dismembered you just disable it
(ignore the unaligned skeleton textures lol)

ive been workin on other stuff but i get back today from my vacay and lowkey it would be neat to create some more variation
might create 2 files: one is a blend file with the "dynamic gore" shader i made, other will be pre-made body parts for anyone who wants to use em
ill have to make a couple custom textures for the meat stumps and organs and whatnot but idc about usage

in this case however the mod developers would need to make custom gibs

ok so i was being kinda evil and flat shading it to hide the noticeable seams but now i fixed that so i dont have to do that anymore

I would just ask somebody that's like good with it as long as you give like some sort to creator wombo combo workshop thing I bet they would do it
the main goal is to release all this stuff (in a more polished state) here so modders and creators can do whatever they want with it
all i ask for is model credit 
moreso texture credit i guess... the models are just edited pz models
later i have an idea for a gnarly lookin tear effect on the ends of the stumps but i gotta work on other stuff before that lol

dynamic zombie decapitation would be so much fun. (Even if would just be random parts poping off).
Maybe could be paired with a mod that let you attack high/medium/low or something.
need to get away? chop off the legs. Want to kill/disarm them? aim high. Got no weapon skill? Go for the guaranteed middle hit, you won't miss!
even without custom attack animations, it would be really cool affecting their speed/attack and your damage to them.
It would be very cool if they kept attacking with missing limbs, but with the way the animation system works the amount of work needed to do that would be insane
...maybe if they are missing arms they do the default grab animations anyway but nothing happens.
Why java? Any mods that touch java are a lot more work for both the modder and users, so you need to be very keen to make and maintain a java mod.
Has any of this been made to work in Project Zomboid, or is it just all in Blender so far?

ideally the dismemberment would leave physical bodyparts on the ground that you can do whatev with so i would need to figure out that
i also have a couple ideas for blood pooling (just an animated image) under bodies
I recommend trying a basic PZ implementation, because dune of the ideas on this thread will hit the limits of what Lua modding be can do.

Does this concept manipulate textures only or alao the 3d models? I also tried to implement something like that but just for the head (decapitation). I am convinced that ita possible to introduce to the game aslong as it only manipulates the textures only
i saw a project zomboid model mod for the L4D1/2 survivors, likely if you or someone else changes the zombie models in that game they or you could use these gore models
so this is slowly becoming an mod?

just came acroos this and those models look sick. something like this would be amazing if it could pair with the amputation mod. one of my biggest gripes with that one is how the stumps mess with clothing masks
