good luck!
it's not really that crazy tbh, just thicker zombie spawns/hordes, less loot, and a few other minor tweaks
if you survive the first month you're probably gravy
followed this but i slotted in thin skinned to get strong instead of stout and a weapon skill (long blunt)
just gonna give it a shot now
nice, good luck!
@ruby wing there is NOTHING
ANYWHERE
i looted the food mart and laundromat
and got a can of oats
and some jellybeans
haha, yarp. loot has value again ๐
no more just walking nextdoor and raiding your neighbor's cabinets for 5 days worth of snacks and beans
I recommend regularly checking the floor when looting places by the way. you find a lot of stuff just strewn on the ground. in the gigamart for example, I came away with maybe 10-15 things, and most of it was on the ground between the shelves. so do check those spots too
but regardless, I highly recommend getting a fishing shack set up as soon as you're able. without it, you're going to start really losing weight throughout the run, and by the 3-4 month mark you might be in the danger territory of less than 50 weight. below this point you get the emaciated trait (a step below very underweight), and it's really brutal for frequent exhaustion and general lack of ability to fight. this is where my previous run ended, basically.
foraging will keep the hunger moodle at bay before winter hits though, lean into it, and build a plant drying rack to preserve ALL of the herbs you get. once dried they won't ever rot. and if you find any living farm animals, those are your #1 priority because they are extremely rare with these settings
good luck ๐
in my opinion, yes. enable advanced settings when configuring your sandbox and compare the values. insanely rare is like 0.05 vs extremely which I think is 0.35 or something? I dont have the game pulled up atm to check though
iirc the default is "rare" which is 0.65 i think
i see
this shit's difficult
tried multiple times cant seem to get a foothold
new zombie spawns jacking shit up
yea i haven't tried in 42.9 yet
RIP! brutal lol
@ruby wing ho ly shit
gas is practically full
guessing its a good idea to just bring it back home
use it to drive about gather loot
hopefully i dont smash it into a wall
โค๏ธ
i have devastating news
it turns out the car keys werent for that car
and i cant hotwire it
so ill have to walk on foot still
daaang... well you have a goal now at least, hopefully you find mechanics/electrical books fast so you can get hotwiring going soon
gonna be able to make a drying rack soon
i just need carving lv 1
should be able to get it
also i am living off of acorns and my guy is severely depressed
but no big deal
alright
made a plant drying rack
got an axe off a zombie
got my campfire
roasting acorns
a little herb farm going
life is good
now i need fish
and im set
made it further than last time
where did you find a rod? @ruby wing
im thinking of looking for a manual to make the fishing rod
either in the school or bookstore
I got lucky and found 2 in a hunters basement, then 1 more somewhere else, can't recall
the 1 was pretty random iirc
unfortunately gimped my hand and leg at the school but got rid of 100 or so zombies
mightve been a survivor zed? I honestly dont recall that one. but the other 2 were for sure from a lucky basement spawn
im just healing at home since i have loads of dried herbs
damn
yeah the dried herbs were a life saver for me in winter a few times
i think my best bet is the angler magazine
had not much else and they kept me from starving
does fishing get ruined too
ohhh gotcha, i mean yes and no
fishing morning/evening peak times seemed fine. i did catch some stuff during the day too
with rods its not so bad, but you will def spend a little longer fishing I found
right
apart from the fishing rod im practically all set
just need a saw
i have an axe that i got off of a zombie
surprisingly good condition
i planted some herbs but i dont know how long they're gonna take to grow
i dont know if it was worth the time doing it but i did it anyway since it was raining so might as well
nah i'm nobody, just another PZ player. mone was asking what my settings were and others have asked in the past too, I figured this was easier than posting it all in pz_chat
ah ok cool
yeah i just wanted to experience a new way of playing the game
it is VERY different to how i play it with just running around and grabbing resources and leaving the rest simply cause its plentiful
the loot settings have me searching every nook and cranny
I like low loot but its too hard for me ๐
why not use slow metabolism? i feel like it would be way better than having athletic
you're not wrong, in 42
I might make that change next run, not sure. I really prefer taking athletic and strong together, switching to just stout instead was already a sacrifice for me lol
but i think next run i'll probably keep the build mostly the same, just switch out for fishing/trapping crafting knowledge in one way or another
that would largely solve my issues
if i started fishing day 1, weight would be no problem
yeah I think that starting with some extra weight to burn + permanent easier weight gaining is better than almost maxxed fitness
the population multiplier is 2.0 meaning the zombie pop is high while the first picture has normal set
