#Weird forest

Literally unplayable
Devs didn't draw forests by hand, it is generated by algorithm
Idk why algorithm has this separation tho
Gotcha, so is that going to be slowly fixed over time?
You aren't meant to come here even
As TiS usually says
"low on priority list"
They're going to fix this in the polishing update, this is like build 47
I mean there is not ONE forest that is 100% proper
So like 4-5 years?
Lmfao
It takes them 4-5 years for one build
So 20 years approximately
Okay so never
If they hold on that long they'll have impressed the entire WORLD of gaming
I see zero chance they survive that long
I mean GTA is the type of game that can do that
Well every game now has a seed now so the wilderness will be different unless you use that seed so yeah im only assuming things will get fixed overtimr. If that is the online b42 map, that isnt the offical one
They sold 10 million copies, I believe they have enough money to keep going for century
By the time they finish zomboid the tech will be so out-dated that theyll have to re-finish it
that is called development
Oh the forest is always different?
Oh yes been there done that myself. Though I figured they had a better timetable going.
I have cancer developing in my testicles, I hope I'll see this game finished before doctors will cut off my balls... /j
Like if it takes this long to make updates I figured they'd have a roadmap with a finish line and not just dev till they die
What a power statement
I AM HERE
Yah, im not home or id show you but we can enter seeds now for world generation for wilderness so things will be weird while its worked on
Serenty condolences
"finished"? I don't want it to finish, I want it to get better and better ... what is your damn point?
Okay so really this may/may not be a bug for a while. It might just be due to the seed or the online map?
I imagine its not even noticable in-game
Finish is the point where you can't do better for me
Exactly
Wip stuffs lol
So if zomboid is going to take forever to develop, this isn't one of the games I should be waiting to play, huh?
Like I was waiting for Build 42 to be finished but I guess thats fruitless?
Biome map is WIP, it causes things like turning corn plants and decorative hedges into bushes. Maybe it causes these biome border areas look broken like in the pictures, too.
January 2026, by then I would almost assume B42 is complete
Build 42 is gonna be finished, some day... I expect it to be finished before 2026
And still this is the most long-developed build
Ill probably end up playing if it doesnt release by Jan 2026
This is not 40 -> 41 lvl at all
I cant wait for Project Zomboid 2
I found this game not too long ago, on build 41. So this is the first time ive seen them update.
Seems like Build 43 is just gonna have to be cut short and they should make the second one 😭
I mean realistically technology will advance so much by the time they reach Build 44/45 that they might as well start over
I can guarantee you they won't start over lol
I am thinking once they have all the resources, the later builds will speed up
Well duh because they've spent so much time and effort into it.
But the current dev speed is just a little confusing because it seems like they're going fast AND slow
Like the patch notes come so fast and so many changes/fixes its like they never sleep
But progress also seems insanely slow?
Smells like copium
Cant even use gifs in my own fkn post
I mean, theres only so much coding one can do
What a world
Perhaps its passion, perhaps its the "no crunch time" policy that AAA studios abuse, as in, using crunch time to ship out slop content because investors want moneys
Indie Stone won't sacrifice quality for fast releases
It just seems like whatever system they have to update the game, it takes them a LOT of time and isnt easy
when they stop adding systems, it should be time to finish the game
TiS treats PZ like their pet project and not public available product
That's how I see it
Once they finish proper survival mechanics, I see no need to ever update the game further. Mods have the rest covered.
all I can see from here , is crafting, npc's and a automotive rebuild
I've been playing since before cars
it was terrilble
Well Ig I lied because i did play a LONG time ago in like 2014
whatever town you are in, that's were you remain
I think i remember NPCs
Whole zomboid experience was terrible before b41 tbh
I mean come on, there are games that are 20+ year old and still developing content. World of Warcraft. Like it or hate it, I don't see why Indie Stone wouldn't keep working on PZ. Smaller team, but also smaller niche to fill, and Indie Stone isn't a greedy studio.
NPCs + Build 42 = Finished Zomboid
I want animated cars
They'll keep working on it, but with what money? They've gotta be making money somehow, and eventually sales dwindle.
There's so much shit that this game needs to clean
and vanilla car tweaking, like armor panels
I meant as in features and new content. They need to improve a lot, and fix a LOT of optimization and bugs.
Dwindle? Oh boy, just B41 made them rocket. B42 with multiplayer, in finished state is how they go to the moon
The whole game is still a little janky
I don't see how each major build bringing tons of content for years to come, would suddenly crash out profit wise
I'm gonna be fellow modmaker that will take part in fixing one of my favourite games lead by not so favourite studio
But eventually won't they have done all the rocketing they can? New audiences don't spawn overnight, and eventually they'll not have enough masses to sell to
Im waiting for project zomboid to be finished so I can fix everything the devs dont or cant☺️
You could literally ask that from a dev in the B42 chat. Indie Stone HAS to have someone good with revenue to handle their economy, and I really really doubt they're just spending the money on stupid shit instead of paving the way for 10+ years to come
There's millions and millions of gamers...
True. They're probably planning ahead for everything.
I don't think they have touched even 1% of that audience...
I believe they invested money from millions of sold copies
That would be the smartest move tbh
I hope one day we have better modding support for maps
A way to make large heap of money useful
Because right now editing the map makes me wanna not exist
You gotta be a little insane to make your own town in PZ
A little is an understatement
I once had the largest map ever made in PZ i swear
It included literally everything that could be included
Plus a few of my own edits
There should be some map-making interested people in the usual B42 chat, they did mention about mapping tools becoming better for B42
I'd like to see a point where we can have 10-15 cities in one map and the game still function
Would be awesome if they listened to feedback of hired mappers
lmao
more or less 9 years considering they work so slow with so much resources
i'd say they work at normal speeds. They've only got like 20 people working on it and continue to release consistent large updates/fixes
That's extremely optimistic
If each update is going to take 4 years, we will have build50 released in 32 years
This just reminds me of Rockstar
We will have GTA 7 before Project Zomboid: Full Release
To be fair, with this type of game, I can see why. This is exactly the type of game you would want them to take their time with
they have the money to hire 300 and retain quality
Just because you have money doesnt mean hiring more people makes things faster
Go take a business or economics course 😭
Like truthfully im very ignorant to this stuff, but my common sense alarm is telling me you can't just hire 300 employees because you've got the money at the moment.
Plus if they did have the money to hire that many employees, they still don't need to hire anymore. You don't NEED to expand expand expand because you CAN
I'm not sure the process of development is even optimized enough to hire new workers
Lemmy isn't exactly good teamlead

I could bet money it isnt. It seems like they've got a very lax environment where they're just doing whatever they feel important atm
Exactly
They could probably improve their efficiency massively, but doing so comes with risks they clearly arent willing to take
Plus, I always think that a game developed by the original loving team in 20 years is better than a game churned out by 200 hired developers in a year
Nobody is perfect but nots act like some people in the community arent a tad dickish
'
I'll have to ask chatgpt about this sentence, I literally can't read it 😭
Oh, I get it
Ok?
I am saying that not everyone is perfect , but dealing with the community sometimes and what they say and how they go about giving feedback and concerns is ridiculous., saying someone isnt fit as a lead when youre not in that persons shoes with that responsibility is kind of weird thing to bring up
One can draw conclusions about a leader by looking at the team's performance. Lemmy has also repeatedly demonstrated his unprofessionalism in instances where he has clashed with the community
I'm a part of some development team, after all
Tbh "Just hire more employees" sounds like "Print more money" to me lol
Yeah i dont want to talk about this thanks
I think that's quite good analogy
my school doesn’t offer this until 11th
Because education systems are wack when it comes to actually educating
If you're in america they don't offer to teach you any language until 9th at minimum, and by then it's already too late to really learn a new language properly.
lmfao frr
it is
but that is not what Puppers was saying
Do you got anymore of them?
' and ","

this is the point
What the author is saying here is that everyone has flaws, but some members of the community behave in particularly unpleasant or aggressive ways.
I don't get it
It doesn't makes sense in my head
what doesn't make sense?
How the first and the second part of sentence are connected
- Everyone has flaws
Ok - Some people are rude
Ok
What's the point of it?
he isn't perfect person and dealing with toxic community - like u sometimes - is difficult
Now this sounds a little better
