#is my build bad?

It is fine, but I'm not fan of keen hearing. It is not as useful as one might think
from what i read online, doesnt it give u a bit of visibility behind
my first char died from a runner that came up out of nowhere
while we both turned around for split second .lol
You can do without "brawler" + "speed demon" + "clumsy"
i only went brawler because i enjoyed fucking up zombies with a shovel
i wanted to get like more oomph
speed demon is really just coz ive too many points
isnt clumsy broken online? in sense of like kinda useless
It comes with time, if your character lives long enough. It's not worth assigning points to it.
Whats build are you on?
That's B41 then.
should we upgrade to 42?
If you plan on playing multiplayer, then you can't since B42 has no MP.
ahh fuck. i thought clumsy is just the noise thing
Speed demon will get you killed in the sense that you end up driving way too fast and you are going to crash and die from injuries.
yeah definitely dont want the rng to kill me
Nope.
yeah i remember once when i bought the game i had clumsy on, some updates ago
and tripped over SLOWLY hopping over hte fence
That's the one.
Now imagine you're in the middle of a fight with several zombies, and you decide to lay down...
yeah defo removing that
speed demon i picked coz i read its good for towing. and that i can just set cruise control
Nah. You just need to use a car with enough power, even without speed demon, and you're good to go for towing.
it sucks they dont specify exactly what the skill does
What really messes with towing is Sunday Driver. Avoid that, unless you really need the points.
yeah i heard its a trap
is short sighted no longer free points, with glasses? did they buff it ?
On B41, I always picked that one. It's easy points and not as reworked as it is on B42.
ah so in b42 they buffed it. ok
On B42, your screen literally goes blurry when not wearing prescription glasses.
but then, if i have keen hearing does that fuck with the cone if i have glasses on ?
visual cone
Nope. They don't work against each other.
Keen hearing helps with you being able to see a zombie from the behind your character much sooner
i think weak skin and prone to illness are just a bad combo really
i thought so too pero but then i played and tbh its not that bad
and slow healer, oof
well if you see nothing wrong so its fine
like if u get hit regardless whether you have those debuffs theres always a chance of being infected
or am i misunderstanding the game
Well, if we all follow the basic advise of PZ, which is: "The best defence is to not get hit..."
and if u have clothes and they get ripped you should fix them
no thats true, but if you have good clothes they rip the clothes and not you
So thin skinned and slow healer isn't a factor, if you don't get hit.
and prone to illness i think gives 25% more zombification chance
so true
thats in the art of zomboid book
anyways its just a first run, if i find that i get infected by every possible hit maybe ill take them off when i die
well, 3rd run
if you're learning these new stuff thats the best option really
Well, you'll most likely never stick to one build anyway, so it's worth trying out.
You'll find your favourites by testing them all out.
i do like the strength and long blunt skills tho
the extra weight and satisfaction from killing zombies is so good
instead of hitting them 4 times u hit them once
even if theyre set to fragile
we found that having like quantity set to above average with random mix of runners and fragile zombies seems to be the best
You also have to be in a position where you compromise on some traits.
Some traits can be gained during playthrough, so no need to select them at creation.
i read online that underweight is free points but the weaker strength is making me worried
like, ignoring weight
it does literally decrease your strength, so it cant be as good as people say it is ?
AND prone to injury
that sounds cancer
Do not pick unfit or underweight, cos you don't know how long it will take to gain those.
It's "Prone to illness" and it's not as bad as it sounds, so long as you don't eat poison mushrooms or something like that.
no no, underweight is also prone to injury apparently
I never used it, and can't confidently recommend you do that to yourself.
Unless you're doing something like a deaf or blind run. LOL
yeah np. i dont like the sound of it anyways
so i dont wanna
yeah haha
i remember deaf used to be free points too
but now it sucks apparently
Some players are suckers for punishment, or they just love testing things out.
I can't think of anything worse than being blind or deaf during a zombie apocalypse.
claustrophobic must be pretty ok to manage tbh
but i already have cowardly so probably too op
I can't recall. I used it very few times on B41. So not too sure on clauso and agoro
Cowardly is just annoying, cos of the moodle that'll keep popping up during those hectic moments, and it does affect combat.
when i played with it yesterday before i died, it seemed quite ok tbh
and apparently eventually your char gets used to it ?
I've never taken it enough to know. But ther are mods that make you lose traits (like the "More Traits" mod). But I don't think it's native to Vanilla.
On B42 I use a mod called "Become Desensitised" and that one will add that trait after a certain amount kills.
your char does get "used" to panic
as time goes on, panic still rises but decreases much faster
On B41?
yea
Ok. Didn't know.
me neither, i never lived long enough to notice that
but a guy with a high rank said that so i believe him
I just never bothered with it.
I only pick negative traits I know I can manage while building a character.
see how it goes
if the damage and panic is really annoying ill just remove dextrous and cowardly
Yeah, that looks manageable.
thank you so much guys for your help
You can run with that
this game is so awesome
i see cats eyes this year got a major buff
due to the lightning update
It's more the lighting inside rooms that's "weird". A room with windows and curtains can never be pitch black. lol
i went with mechanic before that, and it kinda sucks to be honest
probably better off hotwiring cars than trying to fix them in first month of the game
cool got it running. thanks a mil again ! appreciate it
Well, on B41 you're not going to struggle to find books if you're in an urban area.
is that not the case in b42?
